Thanks to your contribution, we have had two \"Funday Fridays\" and they have made a huge difference in our classroom by giving students a chance to distress, connect, and build community. The response from them has been so overwhelmingly positive and they constantly ask when the next \"Funday Friday\" will take place. It is something that they genuinely look forward to.\r\n\r\nFor me, one of the most rewarding parts has been watching the students interact with each other and seeing how the different groups shift depending on what games the students want to play. It has become clear that students are becoming more comfortable with one another, as they are interacting with peers that they may not normally interact with.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped me create a space where students feel supported and I am truly grateful for your investment in their well-being and growth.","fullyFundedDate":1758636572734,"projectUrl":"project/funday-fridays-bringing-connection-and-s/9601926/","projectTitle":"Funday Fridays-Bringing Connection and Stress Relief to Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Yamamoto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7285361_orig.png?crop=640,640,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1772237742697","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7285361"},{"teacherId":7285361,"projectId":9247739,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to help give my students access to novels that more accurately reflect the diverse cultures, identities, and experiences represented within the walls of our high school. These novels are serving as mirrors for many students, allowing them to see themselves, and sometimes their families, within the text. It is a way to make them feel seen and valued and, of course, to make a connection to what they are reading.\r\n\r\nThese novels are also acting as windows, providing students with the opportunity to learn about cultures, ethnicities, and perspectives that are different than their own. Through the text they are reading, they can gain insight into situations they may never experience firsthand, which helps them build empathy and respect for their peers.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these novels can function as sliding glass doors that allows students to step into new worlds and see things from a different point of view. As students read through the text, they begin to understand other perspectives, prompting meaningful conversations that make a lasting impact, not only in our school, but in our community, as well. So thank you for you support of literacy and the power of stories to help inspire today's youth.
