I am blown away by their ability to stay focused when they have a way to move and wiggle. They are excited to have the freedom and independence to choose their own seating. \r\n\r\nKids are different these days. They are BUSY and their minds are constantly talking about Minecraft, Roblox, Youtube. It hurts my teacher heart. Getting kids to focus on a task for a long period of time is near impossible. They want instant gratification, easy, quick. And they need the movement to focus. You have given them the ability to wiggle and move while learning new information or practicing their assignments. These kids are doing so well. \r\n\r\nThey love the peanut seats, the donut chairs and the lap boards. However, their favorite are the scoop rocker seats. They can still sit up by gently rock to get out their wiggles. Our classroom is a better place, more hands on, more involved and more invested and a lot of ths has to do with the fact that they can move and choose throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThank you!!!","fullyFundedDate":1754247542724,"projectUrl":"project/kindergartners-are-wiggly/9377154/","projectTitle":"Kindergartners are WIGGLY!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harrington","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9604361"},{"teacherId":9604361,"projectId":9046439,"letterContent":"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for funding this incredible project! I cannot even begin to describe the amount of gratitude I am feeling as I watched my kindergartners unpack these amazing STEM tools and manipulatives. There were screams of glee and delight as they discovered new \"toys\" to play and create. \r\n\r\nEvery morning, our day starts out with STEM bins in which they are to build, construct, design and create. They deal with trial and error, mistakes and re-dos, success and failure. All of these lead to that deep learning and understanding that comes with hands on learning. While they are playing I have the opportunity to walk around the classroom and engage in meaningful conversations. For example, I might ask, \"how could you make the ball roll further,\" or \"can you make that bridge hold more than one block?\". These questions drive their learning deeper and really engage them in the science and engineering. \r\n\r\nThey love love love the marble run and I have a hard time keeping the group small and manageable because they all love to play with it. Another favorite it the chain reaction where they set up a course for a rubber ball using ramps, levers, and force (a kindergarten standard). Needless to say, when it is time to clean up there are a lot of complaints as they are just simply have too much fun! And learning should be fun!\r\n\r\nThank you, for granting theses supplies so that my sweet kindergartners are able to get access to STEM education while having the best time ever!","fullyFundedDate":1737497395421,"projectUrl":"project/building-the-roots-of-stem-to-bloom-in-k/9046439/","projectTitle":"Building the Roots of STEM to Bloom in Kindergarten!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harrington","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9604361"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35779","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":359,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":37,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":73,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"1 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.2,"schoolId":35779,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Southwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Southwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/enumclaw-school-district-216/southwood-elementary-school/35779"}
