The oversized chairs and side table created an inviting place where students can slow down, take a breath, and truly enjoy reading. We use this area for independent reading, small group discussions, and moments of quiet reflection. One student shared, \"Thank you so much for the new fluffy couches. I can't believe we get to read in them.\" Watching students settle into the chairs with books in their hands has been a beautiful reminder of how a simple, comfortable space can transform their relationship with reading.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new furniture, their excitement was immediate and heartfelt. Smiles filled the room as they asked if they could sit there right away. Another student wrote, \"Thank you for the furniture in the library! I am excited to go there more and read.\" For many of our students, having a calm and cozy place at school is something truly special. One student even shared, \"I think it makes the library a better area and can make people want to be in the library.\" Your gift has helped turn our library into a welcoming environment where students feel relaxed, valued, and eager to learn.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue using this cozy corner for independent reading goals, literature circles, and social-emotional learning activities focused on mindfulness and self-regulation. As one student beautifully said, \"Thanks for the comfy new chairs in the library; it makes it feel more delight in there.\" Thank you for giving our students more than furniture. You have given them comfort, joy, and a place where reading feels safe and exciting. Your kindness has created a lasting impact on their school experience.","fullyFundedDate":1764686962638,"projectUrl":"project/because-middle-schoolers-deserve-cozy-t/9845623/","projectTitle":"Because Middle Schoolers Deserve Cozy, Too!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cisneros","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp417623_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1596859509844","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/417623"},{"teacherId":417623,"projectId":9417965,"letterContent":"The Tonies listening system has transformed reading for my 2nd–4th graders! Since introducing these books, over 85% of my K–2 students have moved up at least one guided reading level, and several have made two or more levels of growth in just one intervention cycle. Having a variety of engaging, decodable, and leveled texts allows each child to practice exactly where they need support (and experience real success).\r\n\r\nWhen the books arrived, their excitement was contagious; they couldn't wait to choose \"their\" book. Now, students eagerly bring books to our small-group table, track their progress, and celebrate each new level earned. These new resources have transformed early reading from a challenge into a joyful, confidence-building experience.\r\n\r\nFor my 3–5 readers, the leveled library has been a total game changer. Many of these students came to intervention feeling discouraged, but now they're reading daily with texts that finally fit their level and interests. Since we began using the new books, 75% of students have advanced at least one level, and fluency rates have improved across every group.\r\n\r\nWhen the books first arrived, students immediately started exploring; one said, \"These books actually make sense to me!\" We use them for targeted small-group lessons and independent practice, and I've seen major growth in both skill and confidence. These resources have reignited their belief that they can be strong readers.","fullyFundedDate":1758803004657,"projectUrl":"project/making-reading-fun-for-struggling-reader/9751986/","projectTitle":"Making Reading Fun for Struggling Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cisneros","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp417623_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1596859509844","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/417623"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35686","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":691,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":72,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":66,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":71.3,"schoolId":35686,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Elma Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Elma Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/elma-school-district-68/elma-elementary-school/35686"}
