The students were shocked to see so many new books in my classroom and were excited to explore all their new reading options. My students were so happy to see many familiar and new books. The favorites in my classroom so far have been Dog Man, Unicorn and Yeti, Pete the Cat, and the Wild Robot series. There are a wide range of reading skills in the students I work with and now there are more options for the students and I to choose from when doing reading lessons and/or read alouds. Some students find it hard to engage with books or finding the right books for them, and with these new books I hope to spread a love of reading to more and more students! The students are absolutely loving having more options of sensory tools. The students were surprised at first at all the new editions to the resource room, but were quickly ready to try out and use them. After reviewing the expectations of sensory tools and fidgets, the students were able to responsibly and safely use and explore the new fidgets. The main expectation with these fidgets is to remember we use them as tools for our learning in the classroom and not as toys/distractions. My students caught on to this very swiftly and even are reminding others inside and outside my classroom how to responsibly use sensory tools/fidgets as tools! Some of the favorite sensory tools my students have named are the wiggly slugs, the bendable wacky tracks, and small fidget cube. Once again, I am so thankful to all that donated to this project and provided more sensory tools and resources for the students I work with!","fullyFundedDate":1760473776765,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-tools/9616874/","projectTitle":"Sensory Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jordyn Stocks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10185205_orig.jpg?crop=618,618,x139,y72&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755467668806","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10185205"},{"teacherId":2878351,"projectId":9202976,"letterContent":"We appreciate all our new hopscotch, sensory tubes, balls and outdoor equipment. Now the balls are pumped up and ready to bounce. We can hop, jump and spin to use our large of amounts of energy while we play with purpose together thanks to your thoughtful gifts.\r\n\r\nWe love to build social skills by playing together in many new games. In the gym, outside, or wherever we can move we will practice our physical skills. Learning as we go to control our bodies, build our strength, and develop ways to play with our friends.\r\n\r\nSturdy and safe playthings are very appreciated by staff and parents who know the value of student independence. When a child with disabilities can gain a skill like throwing a ball, or jumping with two feet it is a celebration in our classroom. When they can practice that skill with a peer, they gain more social confidence and determination for the next learning task.
