Although we haven't used them as much as I would have liked to so far this year, next school year we will plan on using them weekly in our science exploration. \r\nMy science goal for the rest of this school is to get my students used to wearing their lab coats whenever we are doing any hands on science. At times it can be difficult to get ALL my students excited about science and hopefully wearing their lab coats will help with this. \r\nOur fifth grade is raising salmon this year and part of their job is to check the water. The goal of this project was to help students identify within their own selves - inside their own bodies - when a big feeling was activating 'emotion signals' inside of them. The Purrbles were designed to emulated the human heart both at rest and regulated AND a rapid heart rate when disregulated. \r\n\r\nThe ability for them to hold a soft interactive device to truly feel the difference between a regulated heart and a disregulated heart is meant to help them better understand how their OWN precious heart can react to events in life. Kids LOVED it! \r\n\r\nOnce we feel the fast heartbeat of the Purbble - we can then try some soothing techniques to calm and regulate the Purrble. This tool helps me - the school counselor - begin to introduce a variety of coping skills to students. These coping skills, including several breathing techniques are now skills they can try when they begin to notice feeling disregulated and a more rapid heart beat. The breath that seemed most popular for calming thier own hearts was a box breath, count of 4.","fullyFundedDate":1733291629503,"projectUrl":"project/purrble-sel-calm-hearts-calm-minds/8878650/","projectTitle":"Purrble & SEL: Calm Hearts, Calm Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9804114_orig.jpg?crop=531,531,x0,y79&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1728937880666","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9804114"},{"teacherId":9840962,"projectId":8949907,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation to our 2nd grade classroom.
