One challenge for 8th graders at a middle school is that, often, they outgrow the space - this includes the available reading material.\r\n\r\nThese titles, written for adult readers but with an appeal to young adults, draw them into the most important issues of our time, give them protagonists that might look and sound more familiar, and push them to think beyond their own experiences.\r\n\r\nWe have small groups enjoying a set of these titles, individuals that snatch them up to read them at every possible moment, and a shared experience of occasional class read alouds. The students interested in non-traditional characters, re-imagined classics, and stories with a little bit of an edge are thoroughly enjoying this gift from donors.\r\n\r\nWe are beyond grateful. We are humbled.
