Thanks to your donation, we have been able to create a welcoming, vibrant environment that goes beyond the typical classroom setting—one where students can engage in activities that foster connection, collaboration, and social development.\r\n\r\nWith your contribution, we were able to bring in a variety of table-top games, arts and crafts materials, and maker space supplies. These materials have been incredibly impactful, allowing students to step away from their phones and connect with each other in meaningful ways. One teacher, who brought in a quiet class, was able to engage students who had been withdrawn in the classroom. They spent time playing a simple game of UNO and, within moments, were laughing and speaking with their teacher—something that hadn't happened before. It's been heartwarming to witness large groups of students, who rarely interact in class, coming together over a game of Giant Jenga and simply enjoying each other's company.\r\n\r\nThe addition of these activities has also created a much-needed space for students to relax and unwind, especially under our school's new no-phone policy. The library is no longer just a place to read—it's become a hub for social interaction, offering students a chance to connect and take a break from their academic pressures. Teachers have expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to bring their students into this space, not for traditional lessons, but to foster stronger bonds and create lasting memories with their students.\r\n\r\nAs a school with a majority of low-income families, we rely heavily on donations to provide the tools that support not just academic growth, but social and emotional development as well. Your donation has allowed us to create a space where students feel welcome, valued, and connected. We are truly grateful for your belief in the power of these experiences, and for helping to make this library a place where students want to spend time. It's only once they're in the library that we can introduce them to all the great books and adventures waiting for them.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity. Your contribution has made a lasting impact on our students and our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1726347400300,"projectUrl":"project/the-library-just-not-a-house-of-books/8456419/","projectTitle":"The Library...
