There is a lot of research about how important both of these areas are to a student's ability to succeed but the resources are varied. Through this DonorsChoose I was able to get a variety of books on both subjects so I could find the best lessons that fit my students' individual needs. It is difficult to provide the appropriate materials when taking into consideration the difference in language and reading levels of my students. I am able to provide each student with similar lessons on different language and reading levels to meet all of their individual needs. \r\n\r\nWith these books my students are able to explore their self-regulation skills and strengthen their responses to stressful situations that they face. Recently some of my students have struggled with making good choices and these books are helping them recognize their anger and how to appropriately respond to stressful situations. \r\n\r\nThe financial literacy books are helping my students get ready for jobs and financial responsibility when they graduate from high school. A lot of my students struggle with the concept of money and they need to learn how to make good choices when it comes to budgeting and living independently. With the colored ink and laminating sheets, I have been able to make flash cards and colored worksheets for my students. With the colored pictures my students are able to better relate to the information being presented. The rainbow sentences and sentence building kits have been used with my students to model sentences and help my students understand how to put words in order to create sentences. \r\n\r\nThe binder rings are used to put together their vocabulary word cards. These cards provide my students with an easy way to study and learn their vocabulary and multiple meanings of words. They fill out the cards and draw pictures to support their learning. The tissues have been put to use during these winter months. Without your continued support we would have to go without these resources or I would be buying them with my own money.
