Soccer Club has become the most exciting activity for our ELL kids this year. They are so grateful for this equipment that had made our club possible. We knew that we would have interest, but we had no idea we would have over 60 participants at the interest meeting alone! Now our only problem is that we have too many participants - not a bad problem to have!\r\nThis club has given our kids something to look forward to. We know that the club is giving students a reason to get up and come to school on days where they may not otherwise attend school. It has also been an exercise is learning how to work with others, especially with those students who have different home countries and languages. \r\nThank you again for your generosity and for caring for our English Language Learners!","fullyFundedDate":1751482831170,"projectUrl":"project/soccer-is-life-after-school-soccer-club/9428653/","projectTitle":"Soccer Is Life! Safely store perishable ingredients such as meats, cheeses, vegetables, and dairy at optimal temperatures, ensuring food safety and compliance.\r\n2. Prep and store sandwich ingredients in advance, leading to faster assembly and improved workflow during peak sales hours.\r\n3. Reduce food waste by properly organizing and rotating inventory, reinforcing responsible business practices.\r\n\r\nDuring a recent lunch rush, students were able to prepare ingredients the day before, store them in clearly labeled sections inside the refrigerator, and quickly assemble fresh sandwiches without delays. This increased efficiency by 40% compared to previous weeks when prep time was limited due to lack of storage. One student proudly said,\r\n\"This is the first time we've been able to serve everyone without running out of ingredients mid-shift!\"\r\n\r\nUpon seeing the commercial refrigerator for the first time, students were excited and motivated to start using it. One of them said, \"This makes us feel like a real business. We can plan ahead now!\"\r\n\r\nThe enthusiasm from students immediately turned into problem-solving discussions, including how to organize food more efficiently, maintain cleanliness, and maximize freshness.\r\n\r\nWith this expanded cold storage capacity, our next steps will focus on:\r\n\r\n1. Menu Expansion: Students will experiment with new fresh meal options, such as cold deli wraps, grab-and-go salads, and healthy snack packs.\r\n2. Inventory Management System: We will implement a digital tracking system to monitor ingredient stock levels, expiration dates, and sales trends.\r\n3. Food Safety & Compliance Training: Students will continue to receive training in refrigeration best practices, proper food handling, and maintaining health and safety standards.\r\n4. Faster Order Fulfillment & Customer Service: By prepping ingredients ahead of time, students will be able to reduce wait times and serve more customers efficiently.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful for this donation and look forward to sharing more success stories as our students continue to develop valuable entrepreneurial and career-readiness skills.\r\n\r\nThank you for your support in making Viking Deli a success!","fullyFundedDate":1733253565132,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-future-entrepreneurs-with-vik/8810783/","projectTitle":"Empowering Future Entrepreneurs With Viking Enterprise","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vasquez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5976395_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727621341655","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5976395"},{"teacherId":9797335,"projectId":8865016,"letterContent":"Our school was a bit apprehensive about how the NO CELL PHONE policy this year would be received by the students. They have become so accustom to being on their phones constantly, and they often use them as an excuse to not have to interact in social situations when they are uncomfortable with their peers. \r\n\r\nThe students in our counseling office were absolutely thrilled when they saw the games, snacks and crafts that you all had purchased for them! They have spent the last several months creating, playing and engaging with the other counseling aides they would never have spoken to had those items not been available to them. At this age, they have already mostly established friendships and tend to not give anyone else a chance. \r\nYour support didn't just make the students happy, it assisted in disarming social barriers among our groups of students. I have witnessed the friendships that have developed from people who otherwise never would have spoken to each other. Several of them even have each other's phone numbers now, ironically. Each week, we have not only our original group present, but new students who want to participate. We begin our class with setting intentions, deep breathing, and then after about 30 minutes of phyiscal movement, we end our class with a meditation or rest period.\r\nI know this practice is making a difference in the lives of our students. They are learrning the importance of breathing, of movement and quieting the mind. I love this time with my students and I can say that this activity has renewed my love for teaching and motivates me and creates deep connection with my students that may not have been possible without this donation. I think the best part for me so far has been seeing teen boys come to class and eagerly participate. \r\nAlthough I love our small groups, I know we will be expanding our Yoga practice to staff and other students in the school. Staff members have requested my help with giving Yoga classes to many in our building. I only see this becoming more impactful as I reach more participants in the school.\r\nThank you so much for helping me realize a vision that I had years ago and did not know how to make it happen.
