Because of you, our preschoolers were able to dive into a magical ocean adventure filled with storytelling, sensory exploration, and so many joyful learning moments.\r\n\r\nThe excitement began the moment our students walked in and saw the bubble fish lamp glowing with colorful lights. Several children immediately pointed, laughed, and signed \"fish!\" The ocean animal puppets and plush toys quickly became favorites—our hermit crab puppet even inspired a new greeting routine during circle time where the puppet \"says hello\" to each child, encouraging social interaction and communication.\r\n\r\nWe have already begun using the Rainbow Fish puppet set and felt board pieces to retell stories. One quiet student proudly held up the shiny scales and said \"share\" during our first storytelling activity—an incredible moment of language and confidence that your support helped make possible. Our sensory bins now have real shells for sorting, scooping, and exploring textures, which is especially calming for several of our students with sensory needs. The floor puzzle and animal figurines have also been wonderful tools for building teamwork and turn-taking.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just fill our classroom with supplies—it opened up pathways for connection. Students who are nonverbal are now using visuals, gestures, and AAC to identify sea animals, ask for turns, and share their excitement with peers. They are learning new vocabulary like octopus, shell, seahorse, and crab while building confidence in expressing themselves.\r\n\r\nAs we move into the next part of our ocean theme, we will begin creating our own \"underwater world\" art gallery using stencils, stickers, and scratch-art decorations. Students will also work together to build habitats for their animals, using the books A House for Hermit Crab and Mister Seahorse as inspiration. We are so excited to continue integrating literacy, play, and communication using the beautiful materials you provided.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing that learning should feel like an adventure. Your kindness has made a real difference for our little learners—helping them feel safe, capable, and excited to explore the world around them.","fullyFundedDate":1762815158083,"projectUrl":"project/dive-into-learning-special-education-s/9480445/","projectTitle":"Dive Into Learning! With the new rug, laminator, and computer, I've been able to create a flexible, inviting space where small group work feels engaging, organized, and fun.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting uses so far has been during typing practice stations. Students gather on the rug with the computer and use the \"old school\" typing covers for their hands, which makes them feel both challenged and proud as they practice proper typing skills. Having a dedicated, comfortable space for this practice has boosted both their confidence and their focus.\r\n\r\nThe laminator has also been a game-changer, allowing me to create reusable materials and hands-on practice tools that students can use over and over again. \r\n\r\nI've already seen students who were hesitant with typing light up when they realize they can improve and succeed in this new space. It has quickly become one of their favorite stations, and it's giving them real-world skills they'll use far beyond our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me bring this vision to life. The thoughtfully curated sensory toys, social-emotional learning materials, and visual supports have enhanced both individual and group activities, allowing us to better meet the unique needs of our autistic and neurodiverse learners. The kit has made a tangible difference in helping children regulate their emotions, practice empathy, and engage more fully in learning experiences.\r\n\r\nOne especially memorable moment was when we introduced the tactile sensory balls and visual calming tools during our morning routine. One nonverbal student who typically struggles with transitions began smiling and gently squeezing a sensory ball, staying engaged through the entire circle time. That moment spoke volumes about how impactful these resources are in supporting emotional regulation and sensory needs.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using the kindness board and social stories from the kit to anchor a classroom-wide project on friendship and inclusion. Each day, students choose a \"kindness card\" and work on completing that act of kindness—such as sharing a toy or helping a friend clean up. These moments are then celebrated with stickers and positive reinforcement, reinforcing prosocial behavior. Our next steps include creating a classroom \"Kindness Tree\" where students will display leaves representing acts of kindness they have shown. This project not only supports social-emotional growth but also builds classroom community and student confidence.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generous support, our students are growing, connecting, and learning in ways that truly matter.
