My students have been using the new materials during our life science units, and the change in their engagement has been amazing. For many of my special learners, abstract concepts finally feel real because they can hold the models, compare textures, and explore science in a hands on way. We recently used the plant and animal cell models during a review lesson, and several students who often struggle to participate immediately leaned in and began pointing out organelles on their own. It was the first time I saw some of them confidently explain what they noticed.\r\n\r\nTheir excitement was clear from the moment they first saw the materials. Students asked if the items were really for them and whether they could use them in every unit. The tactile nature of these resources is helping close to one hundred fifty students right now, and we have not even reached many of the units these items were purchased for. Knowing that we still have so much more to explore has created a real sense of anticipation in the classroom.\r\n\r\nYour generosity opened the door for my students to experience science in a way that meets their learning needs. Our next steps will include using the ecosystem and weather models as we move into those units, and I know my students will continue to grow as they connect each concept with something they can see and touch. Thank you for believing in them and helping make science come alive in our room.","fullyFundedDate":1758668150339,"projectUrl":"project/touch-see-learn-science-in-action-for/9617669/","projectTitle":"Touch, See, Learn: Science in Action for Special Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hitchcock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6466188_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x147,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1566578817820","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6466188"},{"teacherId":6466188,"projectId":8680459,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students now have access to high-interest, low-level books that are finally at a level they can truly enjoy. These texts allow us to focus on essential reading skills such as fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development while keeping students motivated through stories and topics that matter to them. Having engaging materials at just the right level makes it possible to teach strategies like making predictions, identifying main ideas, and building confidence as readers.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading now feels more inviting and less intimidating. Students are choosing books that interest them, and I see them excited to read during independent reading time. Instead of struggling through texts that feel out of reach, they are experiencing success and building stamina. A few students who used to avoid reading are now eager to share what they've discovered in their books, and that excitement is contagious for the rest of the class.\r\n\r\nYour gift has made a meaningful difference. These books have opened doors for students who previously felt left behind in reading, and they are now able to experience the joy of getting lost in a good story.
