These books offer children a gateway to new stories and characters they can relate to, allowing them to see their own feelings and challenges reflected in the narratives. These narratives go beyond simple definitions of feelings and emotions; they show emotions in action, helping students understand how feelings influence behavior and how to navigate those complex social situations.\r\n\r\nBy incorporating these new books, I've been able to create and plan for a wider variety of lessons and group sessions that are new stories that are relevant and engaging for my students. The stories provide a foundation for hands-on activities, discussions, and art projects that bring SEL concepts to life. Ultimately, these new SEL books empower me to provide new opportunities for growth and self-discovery. The vibrant illustrations and relatable characters invite students to explore their inner worlds in a safe and supportive environment. They learn that they are not alone in their feelings and that there are effective strategies for dealing with life's ups and downs. By weaving these stories into my program, I'm able to equip students with the essential emotional vocabulary and coping skills they need to be successful both in and out of the classroom, fostering a more empathetic and resilient school community.","fullyFundedDate":1746728463299,"projectUrl":"project/stories-for-support-help-update-our-sch/9294689/","projectTitle":"Stories for Support: Help Update Our School Counseling Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hensley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8438550_orig.png?crop=740,740,x791,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746110415270","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8438550"},{"teacherId":9681365,"projectId":8666065,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity! My students and I were so excited to receive the new materials to make our classroom even more welcoming and inviting. \r\n\r\nBefore receiving our large Smiley Face area rug, I had a much smaller area rug that did not accommodate all 18 students in my classroom. Now all of my students have a smiley to sit on and it makes whole group learning time a breeze! I can tell my students are more comfortable and less distracted since they have their own space to sit while they learn. \r\n\r\nMy students were actually in the room with me when the rug was delivered and they were absolutely thrilled! I couldn't believe how excited a group of 1st graders was for an area rug, but somehow they were more excited than I was. \r\n\r\nIn addition to the large area rug, we also received a small area rug and cushions for our classroom library. This has made our library much more appealing to my students. They really enjoy being able to sit or lay in the library to read their favorite book. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you thank you thank you!
