The Uzzle Puzzles have used with students and grades three, four, and five. They are the perfect way to reinforce skills involving spatial reasoning in a way that is physical and not digital. \r\n\r\nWe have played them in two different ways: students first practiced matching the patterns on their own, developing and strengthening their spatial reasoning skills. Then, we moved onto a head-to-head match. I have been using the materials with my third through fifth grade classes -- and they have been a HIT!\r\n\r\nBecause there is only one correct solution, students quickly learned that success requires patience and persistence. As they tested different combinations, made mistakes, and tried again, they built perseverance and resilience. Rather than giving up when a piece doesn't fit, students needed to re-evaluate their strategy, look for patterns, and think ahead about how one placement will affect the rest of the puzzle. Our old stools were broken and falling apart. They also didn't hold much weight and some of our 5th graders are adult size! Thankfully these new stools are strong and don't wobble and hold the weight of a full adult. They are comfortable for us and the kids to sit for a full 30 minute group!\r\nGetting these stools would not have been possible without you. They are expensive but will last for many years and won't fall apart quickly like our old cheap ones. Every nine weeks we have a ceremony to recognize and reward students who have work hard to embody these values. We hold a drawing and a child from each grade level receives a prize. Our school is extremely low in come so our prizes are the best we can do as teachers. I made this project in the hopes of offering the kids something your families would not be able to afford on their own and that they could really be excited to receive. The smiles and cheers when they saw all the Lego sets were beyond my expectations! You helped give these kids a core memory and we still have some many for the next ceremony!
