I've had tears, anger, curiosity, and sadness sit quietly at our new Calming Peace Center. Most of my students have been able to self-regulate and rejoin the class. One of my students, who is still learning how to handle disappointment, spent 30 minutes at the center. He played with all the fidgets and remained calm, staying safe.\r\n\r\nI had my 3rd- to 5th-grade self-contained class last week, which included a total of three students. I have been adjusting my 3rd-grade lesson for them. I noticed that one of my students was having a challenging time holding the mallets or instruments within each lesson. Well, my newest adjustment was made possible with your donation! The push-button handbells made my students feel confident and successful when they accompanied themselves while singing a short song. I wish you could have sat in my room at that moment. You would have seen a young student's eyes open up brightly as they figured out how to use the new instrument. This was followed by a loud and proud sing/play-along. \r\n\r\nPlease know that for every story that I shared in this letter, there are and will be a hundred more success stories thanks to you. Your donation helped me be more intentional with this very special place. This means I can be an even better Music Teacher for my students. The peace center is not a time-out center. It is truly a calming place. \r\n\r\nWhen I told my students that people who didn't even know them wanted to help make their peace center a more calming space, they were quite shocked. From the genre posters to the beloved feelings-stuffed friends, to the popular bean bag chair and rug, we are incredibly grateful! \r\n\r\nThank you for being a part of the goodness that exists in our world! Thank you for supporting humans you don't even know.
