And there is still so much more in store for this amazing public preschool! We have been able to create many BRIGHT and ENGAGING additions to our school building that have contributed to the social emotional growth of our students. \r\n\r\nFirst, a \"Kindness Tree\" was permanently added to our wall giving students opportunities to earn \"kindness leaves\" to help it grow! Our tree is still growing throughout the year. Each time a staff member witnesses a child doing something kind such as sharing, helping, or being polite they get to color their own leaf and place it on the tree. Our students are very proud of their additions to the tree and point them out when walking by, giving them a sense of belonging in our school. \r\n\r\nSecond, our school counselor was able to paint the first of many murals to turn our white walls into colorful images that stimulate our student's senses. The first was a scene of the local Buckroe Beach with swirling water. This helps connect students to their outside environment and gives them visual stimulation when walking down the hall. Students have reacted by saying, \"it's the ocean!\" and excitedly walking by. Third, a mural outside of our library invoking imagination through reading was painted. As students enter the library they are filled with a sense of wonderment walking by a bright rainbow that bursts from a book. \r\n\r\nAnd lastly, the supplies provided have helped brighten garden boxes that will become the Moton Learning Garden this spring! Local university students primed and painted the boxes leaving colorful surfaces ready for the students to add their flare! Each preschool class was able to decorate their garden box thanks to the paint and brushes provided. The paint sticks were an amazing addition that helped accommodate our special needs students! These supplies contributed to students feeling ownership and accomplishment over their garden box that they will soon fill with native plants. \r\n\r\nThese donations are gifts that keep on giving! There is so much more in store including an alphabet wall, sidewalk additions, and a revamp of our Little Free Library. The impact that brightening up our building has made continues to grow as more is added to create a more engaging and therapeutic environment for our students. Many thanks once again and we look forward to showing more progress throughout the year!","fullyFundedDate":1759159261593,"projectUrl":"project/moton-mural-magic/9692476/","projectTitle":"Moton Mural Magic!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Twisdale","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9418337_orig.jpg?crop=1869,1869,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758978091416","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mstwisdale"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_34774","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":226,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":62,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - Pre-K","studentTeacherRatio":"18.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.0,"schoolId":34774,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Moton Early Childhood Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Moton Early Childhood Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/hampton-city-schools/moton-early-childhood-center/34774"}
