My kindergarten newcomers are focusing on learning the names of different foods. We are drawing different foods that are sweet, salty, crunchy, bitter, sour, and spicy. They are loving being able to draw and categorize the foods on a white board. My 2nd graders are doing comparing and contrasting. So, we are currently using the board to do a Venn diagram of grassland vs. forest. It is so much fun for the students to do a large project together instead of individual work. My 3rd graders have become addicted to hangman. So, we have been using the board to help the students improve the spelling of certain words. And, finally my 5th graders are currently using it to detail out their science projects. They have a presentation and are recording data, materials, and results so they can complete their project. \r\n\r\nMy students were so excited for their new white board and it came in a very large box. My students have loved this 2 sided whiteboard for all our projects. I actually used the user manual with my 3rd and 5th graders and they put it together with me. They had so much fun doing a real life project to prepare for SOL's instead of just a paper pencil worksheet. It took us 2 days, and they even learned how to go to the original pictures on the website when the directions were confusing. It was a great experience.\r\n\r\nMy next projects are for my Kindergarten group to learn different types of transportation. The white board will be incredibly helpful. My 2nd graders are starting to work on writing formal letters to mail. Being able to write a letter together in a central location is incredible and they are looking forward to the group project. My 3rd graders are moving on to reviewing math problems for SOL's. I often get their tests for them to review missed problems. Redoing and learning problems on a large whiteboard is so much more fun than paper and pencil. Finally, my 5th graders have become obsessed with dwarf plants. So, we are going to draw out all the planets and write facts about dwarf planets through research. Thank you so much for all of the generous donations, it has made collaboration and group work an incredible experience for my small groups.","fullyFundedDate":1743808435926,"projectUrl":"project/a-large-white-board-for-collaboration-an/8992259/","projectTitle":"A Large White Board for Collaboration and Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Traffas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3607250_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x510,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762977794478","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-traffas"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_62234","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":642,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":44,"percentWhite":30,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":46.9,"schoolId":62234,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Marguerite F Christian Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Marguerite F Christian Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/chesterfield-county-public-schools/marguerite-f-christian-elementary-school/62234"}
