Thanks to your support, we received clear sticky notes for annotating texts and erasable highlighters—simple but transformative tools that have made a noticeable difference in our daily learning experiences.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment I introduced the new materials, my students were intrigued. When I held up the pack of clear sticky notes and demonstrated how they could be placed directly over a page without covering the text, a ripple of excitement went through the room. They loved the idea of being able to write directly \"on\" the page without permanently marking the book. It instantly opened the door for more interactive and confident engagement with reading materials. One student even exclaimed, \"Wait—we can write on the book without really writing on it? That's so cool!\" The erasable highlighters were equally popular, especially with students who are more hesitant about making mistakes. Knowing they could highlight a passage and erase it later helped many students feel more free to experiment, take risks, and revise their thinking.\r\n\r\nThe skills my student's have developed through annotating text and refining their thinking with the highlighters will directly support greater reading comprehension. I enjoyed seeing the impact that had on students at the end of the year as we moved into state testing. I am eager to start a new year with these materials and see the impact they can have when used all year long. \r\n\r\nYour support did more than just provide supplies—it sent a message to my students that their learning matters and that there are people outside our classroom who care about their success. The tools you helped us purchase are not only practical, but they also symbolize the importance of curiosity, revision, and ownership in the learning process.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making a real and lasting impact. Your support has truly transformed our classroom environment, making it more dynamic and conducive to learning. The students are now able to engage in their work while enjoying the benefits of movement, which has significantly increased their focus and enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nSince introducing the new stools, we've implemented a project where students are creating presentations on various environmental issues. They are working in small groups, and the ability to shift their positions while collaborating has fostered a more interactive and creative atmosphere. I've observed students bouncing ideas off each other, using the wobble stools to shift their focus, and staying energized throughout the project. This flexibility has not only enhanced their teamwork skills but also allowed them to express their creativity more freely.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their reactions were priceless. Many of them rushed to try out the wobble stools, giggling with excitement as they discovered how fun and comfortable they were. It was heartwarming to see them immediately gravitate toward the new bar stools, eager to test them out while discussing their projects. The initial thrill quickly turned into a sense of ownership and pride in their learning space. They now treat the stools as a part of their educational experience, frequently discussing how they help them concentrate better during lessons.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, your generosity has laid the foundation for further projects that will deepen our students' engagement with their learning. We have plans to expand our environmental project into a school-wide initiative where students will not only present their findings but also create actionable plans for our community. They will be working on a presentation to share with other classes and parents, showcasing their research and recommending steps we can take to improve our local environment. This initiative will involve several phases, including research, collaboration, and public speaking, allowing students to develop a range of skills.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, we aim to incorporate more movement-based activities into our daily lessons, leveraging the flexibility of our new furniture. Students are excited about the possibility of using the stools for various subjects, whether it's for math problem-solving sessions, creative writing, or even art projects. The ability to move and shift positions has proven to enhance their focus and creativity, and I am eager to see how this will continue to evolve.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has not only provided us with physical resources but has also inspired a culture of collaboration and creativity in our classroom. Thank you for being a part of our journey and for believing in the potential of our students. Your kindness has made a lasting impact, and I look forward to sharing more about our progress and successes as we continue to grow and learn together.","fullyFundedDate":1746786932821,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-minds-of-all-kinds/9305788/","projectTitle":"Engaging Minds of all Kinds!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8534967"},{"teacherId":9712820,"projectId":9057825,"letterContent":"I am so excited to share how your generous contributions have already made a meaningful impact in my classroom. The storage bins have become a game-changer! They help keep our clipboards, teacher favorite books, and monthly reading materials organized and easily accessible for students. Each morning, students eagerly grab their clipboards from the bins as they get ready to dive into their work. This simple act has helped streamline our classroom routines and fostered a sense of ownership over their learning materials. The magnetic spice racks are another highlight. They now hold our content-based books, neatly organized by subject. This makes it easy for students to grab a book related to our current lesson, sparking curiosity and engagement.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw these new resources, their excitement was palpable. They were especially thrilled with the mints, The bulletin board decor, which celebrates the theme \"We're Wild About Our Grade,\" has also helped create a positive, welcoming environment where students feel proud to be part of our class community.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next step for my students is diving deeper into our current unit. With the content-based books neatly displayed on the spice racks, we will continue our exploration of various topics, and students will have even more opportunities to access resources independently. These tools have not only helped enhance learning but have also created a space where students feel energized, organized, and inspired. I cannot wait to see how these resources continue to support their academic journey.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your incredible generosity. It is making a significant impact on student learning, engagement, self-regulation, and the overall community. As part of my commitment to meeting the diverse needs of my students in all learning environments, with your help I have introduced more sensory-friendly items into my classrooms. I've made adjustments to the lighting in my classrooms by incorporating dimmed lighting options. The sensory fish bubble light tube with 16 LED color changing nightlight (aquarium) has been a great addition. There have been many times during independent work time that students will take a flexible seating option and a clipboard and go work near the aquarium. This has also helped students to help regulate their emotions. The liquid sensory floor tiles and sensory wall panel have also helped with student engagement. Students may need time to be by themselves or release some energy, they use the sensory wall tiles or the sequin wall. They provide a safe outlet by improving their ability to engage with lessons and stay on task. \r\n\r\nMy students could not wait to see the fish bubble light tube in action. They wanted me to set it up the minute I took it out of the box. However, it required the use of distilled water, so they had to wait another day. The moment they came into the classroom, they were looking for it. They were mesmerized. Just like any classroom resource, it took some training of how and when we could use this. I was also able to use the liquid sensory floor tiles immediately. The students loved these! Luckily, we had a teacher workday coming up so I was able to put up the sensory wall tiles and the sequin wall quickly. The day they came in and saw the huge wall with \"hello\" written on it, they all wanted to play. Again, it took training on how and when. \r\n\r\nSince seeing the positive impact these sensory-friendly updates are having on my students' learning experiences and overall well-being, I have been adding more flexible seating, sensor-friendly lighting, fidget toys, and sensory support to the classroom with the help and support of my wonderful classroom parents. I've already seen a remarkable improvement in student focus, collaboration, and emotional well-being since implementing these changes. By tailoring the classroom environment to better suit individual needs, we are empowering every child to reach their full potential.\r\nIf you're interested in learning more or seeing these resources in action, we would love to invite you for a classroom tour or demonstration. Thank you for your support in making our classroom a place where every student feels valued and supported.","fullyFundedDate":1725577967329,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-friendly-classroom/8404798/","projectTitle":"Sensory Friendly Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Colvin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9547448_orig.jpg?crop=1942,1942,x0,y64&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715713777377","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9547448"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_33536","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":646,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.6,"schoolId":33536,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Stuarts Draft Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Stuarts Draft Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/augusta-county-school-district/stuarts-draft-elementary-school/33536"}
