I try to cross the curriculum as much as I can to support student learning and your gift has helped to me do that with my students. We recently lost some of the funding previously available to our school and providing items that are not a part of the core curriculum has become a strain on many of our families. Grants and donations have helped me to provide high quality materials to all of my students.\r\nWhen the boxes arrived the excitement was palpable. Students were excited to see the brand new materials and eagerly put their name on each item. They take pride and care of their materials and encourage each other to do the same. They are learning to organize themselves and be responsible for their own work. These are skills that will support them throughout their lives.\r\nThank you seems like such a small word, but it is the best one that I have to tell you how much I appreciate you. We used these books as classroom read-alouds throughout the year. These stories helped students make connections between their own experiences and those of their classmates. We all learned new things! \r\nOne of the exciting parts of this project was using these books in our lending library. It was especially meaningful because they were able to share one of our classroom's favorite books with their families. \r\nYour gift also supported several hands-on activities throughout the unit. We melted the crayons to make gingerbread men that then were used in our crayon boxes to color throughout the school year. The stickers became a favorite art center as students decorated paper with gingerbread people and intricate houses. Last, we used the frames to create winter holiday gifts for families. For a Kindergartener, there is something truly special about making a gift for a parent or guardian, and the students were excited to surprise their loved ones with something they had made themselves. \r\nYour gift helped enhance important literacy learning in our classroom. We use the double-sided whiteboards every single day during both whole-group and small-group instruction. Students practice sentence writing, solve math problems, review skills, and respond to phonics games right at their seats. The whiteboards allow every child to participate at the same time, and I can quickly check for understanding and adjust instruction in the moment. It has made lessons more interactive and boosted student confidence because everyone gets a chance to try without fear of making mistakes on paper.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate. The students could not wait to use the new games, especially SPLAT! We now play SPLAT during phonics, math review, and even indoor recess. They request it daily and ask to use it whenever they have free time. What I love most is that they see it as \"fun,\" but I see the skill-building happening in real time—stronger decoding, quicker math fact recall, and more teamwork and problem solving when they play amongst themselves. It has been a game changer for my students who receive specialized instruction. They enjoy working with the materials during small group and is has allowed them to reach some of their short term goals. The privacy folders have also been incredibly helpful during quarterly district assessments and unit tests. They create a calmer environment and help students who are easily distracted stay focused on doing their very best work.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue using these tools to strengthen foundational reading and math skills. Our next steps include building more complex sentences in writing, improving fluency in phonics patterns, and strengthening math fact accuracy. These resources are not just materials—they are tools that support engagement, focus, and academic growth every single day. In kindergarten especially, focus is everything. With their headphones on, students can clearly hear phonics lessons, guided reading stories, math games, and interactive instructions that reinforce the skills we practice together. This has helped strengthen their letter recognition, reading fluency, number sense, and listening comprehension. \r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for the students is the sense of independence. When they put their headphones on, they feel like \"big kids\" taking charge of their own learning. They are more confident navigating educational apps, replaying directions when needed, and working at their own pace. It has transformed technology time into a calm, purposeful, and highly productive part of our day.\r\n\r\nI've also seen particular students truly blossom. Some of my quieter learners, who may hesitate to speak up during whole-group instruction, are thriving with the support of audio-guided lessons. Students who need repetition or extra practice can now receive it without feeling singled out. The faces of the students when they learned someone had donated so that these instruments were theirs to keep was priceless. They have worked hard to take care of their instrument and remind each other to do the same. They love to perform solos to demonstrate what they have learned in class and they are beginning to work on duets and trios as well.\r\nIn December, we had our first concert. The nerves were real, yet they showed that the recorder was not a toy, but a true instrument, to the surprise and delight of the audience.
