Students are developing social, emotional, and engineering skills by using the marble run, Play-Doh, origami, and kinetic sand kits. Our students can dive into their school day, forget about their morning, work as a team, and exercise their brains with these tools. The best part is, they have a ton of fun doing it! Whether we choose an exciting, energetic morning (marble run) or a more calming morning (kinetic sand, Play-Doh, and origami), the supplies you helped purchase are making a difference in our day! Students are engaged and ready to begin their math lesson in the morning. They've made mistakes, worked through them, and developed their growth mindset all by 8:30 a.m.! \r\nYou also helped provide us with flexible seating and self-regulation tools. The stools have been a big hit. Students have been using them to work in small groups and complete hands-on activities. They are the perfect height for our low table! We love to use them to work on the marble run. Around 50% of the chairs in my classroom have kick bands for students to use to release some of their fidget energy. The putty has been a favorite in the cool-down corner, aiding students in their self-regulation journey. \r\nWhile your donation bought items for our classroom, it also purchased so much more! Thank you so much for providing my students with tools they can use to better themselves through play. Because of your kindness, our kindergarten students are enjoying new writing journals, storage caddies, a magnetic book rack, and a star reward jar. These resources have made a tremendous difference in our daily routines and learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe writing journals have quickly become a favorite part of our day. My students are excited to put their thoughts on paper and share their work, and it has been inspiring to watch their confidence as young writers grow. The magnetic book rack has given our classroom library a new sense of order, making books more accessible and inviting. \r\n\r\nThe storage caddies will help us stay organized and ready for learning. Instead of spending time searching for materials, students can quickly grab what they need and get started. This has greatly improved our transitions from one activity to the next, reducing downtime and allowing us to maximize instructional time. The star reward jar has also added a fun and positive way to celebrate teamwork and good choices, motivating students to support one another and stay focused throughout the day.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classroom feels more structured, joyful, and student-centered. Transitions are smoother, learning time is richer, and my students are developing strong habits of independence and responsibility. Because of you, my kindergarten students are experiencing learning in exciting and meaningful new ways. The materials you helped fund — sensory spheres, musical instruments, voice recording buttons, and more — have truly transformed our daily activities.\r\n\r\nThe sensory spheres have been a huge hit during playdough time. They've helped students develop fine motor skills while also encouraging creativity and calming sensory play. I've seen quieter students open up during this center, chatting and collaborating with classmates as they explore textures and shapes.\r\n\r\nOur new musical instruments have added rhythm and joy to our phonemic awareness lessons. Whether we're clapping syllables or tapping out rhymes, the instruments have turned language into a full-body experience. Students are more engaged, more responsive, and genuinely look forward to these lessons.\r\n\r\nThe voice recording buttons have been an amazing tool for independent and small group activities. We've used them to record directions, practice storytelling, and even create phonics games. My students love hearing their own voices and those of their classmates, and it's helping build both confidence and listening skills.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, learning in our classroom is now more hands-on, interactive, and joyful. You've helped create a space where students are not only learning foundational skills, but also discovering how much fun school can be.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in us.","fullyFundedDate":1746787014432,"projectUrl":"project/move-groove/9198955/","projectTitle":"Move & Groove!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Young","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3646416_orig.jpg?crop=1567,1567,x448,y507&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690417444935","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/youngskinders"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35266","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":330,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":89,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"10.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":45.2,"schoolId":35266,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Newport City Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Newport City Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/vermont/north-country-su-31/newport-city-elementary-school/35266"}
