I learned of Donors Choose at the start of the school year and thought I would try it. I looked through the supplies and worked to ensure all that I put on the list would be impactful to my students. I was unsure if my project would be funded, as I know there are many deserving teachers, classrooms, and students worldwide. I was deeply touched to receive an email saying my project had been funded! Receiving the supplies was like a holiday in class every time we got to open a new box.\r\n\r\nI will start with the books. Though I teach 6th grade I will always believe in the importance of picture books in the classroom. We received titles such as; Good Things, The Name Jar, Eyes That Speak to the Stars, and books about both Anxiety and bullying. All of these books have been incorporated into our weekly circle as a way to further build on my students' inclusivity, acceptance, and understanding of themselves and the people around them. These books sparked wonderful conversations and truly helped foster deeper learning in my class.\r\n\r\nNext are the games! Talk about community builders! Games of Clue, Life, and Tapple have strengthened our 6th-grade connections. I have enjoyed teaching students Clue, a game I grew up playing. As well as, hearing students shout out answers and laugh at mistakes while playing Tapple. \r\n\r\nFinally, I will end with the snacks. Students aren't just hungry once or twice a day but throughout the day. Knowing I have a full drawer of snacks they can take from fills my heart. Students never need to feel bad about grabbing a snack and know I will always share. No one should be hungry at school, I know I don't do my best work when I am!\r\n\r\nThank you again for your thoughtful generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1730733529496,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-connection-can-be-found-in-6th/8719381/","projectTitle":"Classroom Connection Can Be Found in 6th Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sanguinetti","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9716600"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35218","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":263,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":37,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":94,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":56.7,"schoolId":35218,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fairfield Center School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fairfield Center School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/vermont/maple-run-unified-school-district/fairfield-center-school/35218"}
