Many of my students rely heavily on visual supports to understand directions, communicate, transition between activities, and access academic instruction. Having the ability to print these materials in color allows us to create clearer, more engaging, and more meaningful supports that students can recognize and use independently throughout their school day.\r\n\r\nWe have used the printer to create individualized visual schedules, AAC communication supports, classroom procedure visuals, academic workbooks, and hands-on learning materials. We have also created materials to identify shapes, compare same and different items, recognize safe and unsafe objects, practice sight words, and work on individualized IEP goals. Color is especially important for many of these materials because it helps students distinguish between choices, identify pictures and symbols more easily, and connect printed materials to the real objects and activities they encounter throughout the day. We can also print classroom posters, learning objectives, standards, and visual reminders that remain on display for students to reference.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting is watching students become more independent when they have visual materials that are designed specifically for them. Some students who have difficulty understanding verbal directions can look at their visual schedule and see what comes next. Others can point to pictures or symbols to communicate a choice or to answer a question. The printer has given us the ability to create these supports when our students need them instead of being limited by what is already available. Thank you for providing a resource that we are able to use every single day and that directly supports our students' communication, learning, independence, and success.","fullyFundedDate":1778701452248,"projectUrl":"project/color-that-brings-learning-to-life-for-l/10133469/","projectTitle":"Color That Brings Learning to Life for Life Skills Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Espinda Call","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10457859"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53605","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":723,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":42,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":3,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"8 - 9","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":69.7,"schoolId":53605,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pine View Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pine View Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/washington-county-school-district/pine-view-middle-school/53605"}
