These composition books have completely transformed the way we approach sketching, brainstorming, and creative planning in our classroom. Before, students often misplaced loose papers or didn't have a consistent place to record their ideas. Now, they take pride in their personal sketchbooks, using them daily for warm-ups, practice drawings, and design planning. It's been amazing to see their confidence grow as they flip back through their pages and recognize their artistic progress over time.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these sketchbooks will continue to be a foundation for everything we do. Students will use them to plan larger art projects, experiment with perspective drawings, and develop ideas for their final portfolios. Your support has provided not only structure and organization but also a sense of ownership and pride in their creative journey. As an Art teacher, I strive to help my students not only create meaningful artwork but also reflect on their growth over time. Before we had these folders, student work was often scattered or tucked into desks, and many pieces were lost or damaged. Now, every student has their own sturdy folder to keep their artwork organized, safe, and ready to share. This simple resource has elevated the way we approach both daily lessons and long-term projects. Students take pride in storing their creations in their folders, knowing they are building a collection that reflects their learning journey throughout the year.\r\n\r\nThe folders have become a central part of our classroom routine. Each time we finish a project—whether it's a pencil drawing exploring line and texture, a painting showing complementary colors, or a collage focused on organic versus geometric shapes—students immediately file their work into their portfolios. This practice helps them see their progress over time. For example, during a recent lesson on shading and value, students compared their early sketches with their new ones stored in their folders. Many were amazed at how much more confident their lines and shading had become. Being able to visually track growth has boosted their confidence and encouraged them to take more risks in their artwork.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students have gained more than just a place to store their papers—they have gained a sense of pride and professionalism in their art. These folders have created opportunities for reflection, growth, and celebration that would not have been possible without your support. Thank you for believing in the importance of art education and for giving my students the tools they need to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1750773688115,"projectUrl":"project/portfolios-with-purpose/9335750/","projectTitle":"Portfolios With Purpose","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Haeberlen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7843447_orig.jpg?crop=2393,2393,x0,y566&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724428501679","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7843447"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11748","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":330,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":73,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":20,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"8.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":84.0,"schoolId":11748,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Winnsboro Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Winnsboro Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/winnsboro-independent-school-district/memorial-middle-school/11748"}
