The culminating activity that we do at the end of the unit helps students to remember all they have learned as well as help make the learning relevant to them.\r\nSo far this year, we have learned about Japan as well as become doctors for the culminating activities.\r\nWe have not used to materials for this project yet, because the units haven't been taught yet. When we do the unit about the earth, we will use the clay to make replicas of the inside of the earth. We will also be making dioramas of animal habitats when we get to that unit. \r\nMy favorite unit is the space unit. We actually get to start that unit on Wednesday. Thanks to your generosity, we now have headphones that make learning more personalized, focused, and engaging.\r\nIn reading, students use a program called Imagine Learning, which supports them in practicing sounds, syllables, and orthographic patterns. The built-in microphones on the headphones have been especially powerful—students can record their voices, listen back, and build confidence as readers while also improving fluency and comprehension.\r\nDuring math, the headphones are used with IXL, a program that gives students targeted practice on specific skills. The headphones help them concentrate, block out distractions, and fully focus on the areas they need to strengthen.\r\nThese headphones have quickly become an essential tool in our classroom. One of the first projects we did was making rekenrek bracelets with pipe cleaners and beads. The students loved stringing the beads and then immediately started using their bracelets to show different ways to make 10. It was such a hands-on moment where they could proudly hold up their work and share strategies with their classmates.\r\nWhen the personalized art bags were revealed, the class gasped with excitement. Each student couldn't wait to find their number and admire the custom design. Our art teacher commented on how much easier it has been to keep supplies organized, and students now feel a sense of ownership as they carry their special bags each week.\r\nLooking ahead, we'll be using the acrylic paint pens for holiday crafts, starting with Christmas ornaments that students will decorate and take home for their families. They are already brainstorming designs and can't wait to get creative. And at the end of the year, the popsicle holders will be a fun gift that helps us celebrate all of their hard work.\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students are not only learning important academic skills but also experiencing joy, pride, and creativity in their daily routines. One unforgettable moment was when a student shouted, \"It sprouted!\" and the entire class rushed over to see the tiny green shoot pushing through the soil. It was a beautiful reminder of how powerful hands-on learning can be. We tied this project into literacy by having students write heartfelt letters to someone special. I took all the blankets home, and with the help of my kids, we wrapped each one and included a special note for every student. On the last day before break, I had the joy of handing out these gifts. Watching their faces light up as they read their notes and unwrapped their blankets was a truly heartwarming moment.\r\n\r\nMany of my students faced significant challenges, and ensuring they had warmth and comfort over the long winter break was a top priority. The thought of them being cold at home during our two-week school closure worried me, and I wanted to do everything I could to support them. A fleece blanket may have seemed like a small gift, but to a child in need, it was a symbol of care, security, and warmth.\r\n\r\nWhen my students returned from break, they couldn't wait to tell me how much they had loved their blankets. Many shared that they had used them every day—whether at home, while traveling in the car, or simply curling up with a good book.
