Students enjoyed all phases of construction, from planning to implementing the design. Watching their masterpiece come alive, and generating energy to power their lights and fan using the panels was fascinating as an instructor. \r\n\r\nThe reaction to having these resources and materials available to our students stunned them. Being able to reach out and ask for materials was my idea to ensure my students had what they needed to see what other career choices may come ahead in their lives. \r\n\r\nThe next steps of the project are to include this design with our wind turbine kits that we received. These students have demonstrated dedication in designing a robot that moves through the power of code. This opportunity has enabled them to plan, develop, and create a LEGO robot in a safe environment—one where they can collaborate and build social skills while exploring various STEM-related careers.\r\nThe laptops purchased through our donor's generosity have allowed us to reach more students and support them in developing code with my guidance. Before funding, students had access to only one laptop, making it difficult to demonstrate how the robot functions using just my device. Now, student groups have access to two new laptops, and I can project my instructions on a screen, making it easier for everyone to follow along. Students are able to adapt their Scratch code to meet the challenges of each task and develop strategies to navigate obstacles, getting their robot from point A to point B.\r\nYour belief in STEM education through this funding has opened the door for our students to participate in hands-on learning experiences that spark interest in future engineering careers. The opportunity to use these new tools goes beyond what many of them ever imagined. While Chromebooks are useful for completing schoolwork, these new laptops allow students to explore programming with platforms like Scratch and Python.\r\nThank you for your generous donation to our campus.\r\nSincerely,\r\n Michael Garza\r\n 6th Grade Math Teacher\r\n STEM Club Sponsor","fullyFundedDate":1739367267511,"projectUrl":"project/stem-exploring-engineering-fields-and-me/8934217/","projectTitle":"STEM Exploring Engineering Fields and Mental Health","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Garza","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9832126_orig.jpg?crop=495,495,x180,y213&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731262978224","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9832126"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_15264","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":595,"numTeachers":55,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":98,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":15264,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dr Armando Cuellar Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dr Armando Cuellar Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/weslaco-independent-school-district/dr-armando-cuellar-middle-school/15264"}
