The first time they saw them, they rushed over to explore, touching the cubbies and immediately asking if they could check for \"mail.\" We started by introducing a classroom project where students write notes, share compliments, and deliver assignments into one another's mailboxes. The simple act of placing papers into their own slot has given them a new sense of independence and responsibility—they now know exactly where to look for their work and messages without needing to ask for help.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was during our first \"mail delivery day.\" A student who often struggles with organization beamed as he found a brightly colored note in his mailbox from a classmate. He proudly read it aloud, and for the first time that week, he stayed on task through the entire lesson because he wanted to \"earn more mail.\" These moments highlight how something as small as a mailbox can create big feelings of pride and ownership in learning.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are integrating the mailboxes into writing and reading lessons. Students will be drafting friendly letters and short reading reflections to \"deliver\" to peers, combining academic skills with social-emotional growth. Thank you for helping us create this system of independence and joy. Your generosity gave us more than just storage—it gave my students a daily opportunity to feel capable, connected, and excited about learning.","fullyFundedDate":1755721192517,"projectUrl":"project/youve-got-mail-building-independence/9303579/","projectTitle":"\"You've Got Mail!
