Having access to basic art supplies has helped provide students with an outlet for expression while also supporting academic skills that are critical at this stage of their education. These materials have allowed students to engage more deeply with lessons, organize their thoughts visually, and feel better prepared to participate in class activities.\r\n\r\nThe sketch pads and colored pencils have been used to build a wide range of skills that extend well beyond artistic ability. Freshman students are learning how to plan, visualize, and revise their work, skills that are essential for success in high school coursework. Many assignments require students to sketch ideas, annotate visuals, or create graphic representations of concepts before moving into written responses.
