These resources are kept in a discreet and respectful space in the classroom, allowing students to access them privately whenever needed. This has helped remove a significant barrier to learning and participation for many of our students.\r\n\r\nWhen students first learned that these items were available, there was a sense of relief and gratitude. Some expressed appreciation quietly, while others simply showed it through increased confidence and comfort in class. Knowing they have what they need has helped students stay focused on their learning rather than worrying about their personal needs. It has also created a more supportive and caring classroom environment where students feel seen and valued.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue to ensure these supplies are available while also reinforcing the importance of self-care, confidence, and preparedness. We use the diffuser during our daily mindfulness and yoga routines, helping students transition from the busyness of the day into a more focused, peaceful mindset. One particularly meaningful moment was during a guided breathing exercise when several students shared how the calming scents helped them relax and concentrate more deeply than before.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw and experienced the diffuser, they were incredibly excited and curious. Many of them had never been exposed to aromatherapy before, and they immediately noticed how it made the room feel different, more warm and welcoming. Students have begun to associate our yoga time with a sense of calm and emotional safety, which has positively impacted their focus, behavior, and overall well-being throughout the day.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue incorporating these resources into our mindfulness practices, while also helping students learn more about self-regulation and stress management techniques. We are beginning to connect our breathing exercises with lessons on emotional awareness, giving students tools they can use both inside and outside the classroom. While many donors may use smart technology at home, in our classroom, this device has become a powerful learning tool. Students are using the glasses to capture first-person photos and videos during lab experiments, allowing them to review procedures, analyze results, and reflect on their scientific process. Instead of relying only on written notes, they can revisit their own point-of-view recordings to strengthen observation skills and identify areas for improvement.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the hands-free capability and built-in AI support. During experiments, they can remain fully engaged while documenting their work in real time. Several students who are typically quieter during labs have especially connected with this technology. One student who struggles with writing lab reflections has found confidence by recording observations first, then using the footage to organize thoughts more clearly. The glasses have created new access points for learners with different strengths.\r\n\r\nNext, students will use the glasses to document multi-step investigations and create short \"scientist perspective\" presentations explaining their findings. This technology is helping them move beyond simply completing labs; they are now analyzing, communicating, and thinking more critically about their work. The Tectonics Fault Model and the Earth Layer Demonstration Models from Ward's Science have allowed my students to visualize processes that are normally invisible beneath our feet. Instead of only looking at diagrams in a textbook, students are physically modeling plate boundaries, identifying faults, and demonstrating how convection currents drive tectonic movement.\r\n\r\nOne powerful classroom moment happened when a group used the fault model to simulate an earthquake. As they manipulated the plates and watched the \"fault\" shift, you could hear the excitement in their voices: \"So this is what causes the shaking!\" That hands-on experience made the concept stick in a way a lecture never could. When the models first arrived, students were eager to examine every detail, turning the Earth layer model in their hands, pointing out the mantle and core, and asking thoughtful questions about how energy transfers inside our planet.\r\n\r\nNow that they understand the structure of the Earth and plate motion more deeply, our next step is to apply this knowledge to real-world data. Students are analyzing maps of tectonic plate boundaries and earthquake distribution, using the models to justify their explanations. Your support has helped them move from memorizing facts to thinking like geologists, developing models, testing ideas, and explaining patterns using evidence.","fullyFundedDate":1766110254691,"projectUrl":"project/from-core-to-crust-modeling-earths-mov/9726726/","projectTitle":"From Core to Crust: Modeling Earth’s Movements","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Zapico","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5893029_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1537362760229","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-zapico"},{"teacherId":5893029,"projectId":9726455,"letterContent":"The new 3D human anatomy models have transformed the way my students learn in science. Instead of only relying on diagrams in a book, they now explore the human body hands-on, removing organs, identifying structures, and comparing body systems in real time. One of my favorite moments happened during our body systems project: a group of students gathered around the model, carefully pulling out the lungs and excitedly saying, \"So THAT'S where the diaphragm goes!\" That moment of discovery, something that can only happen with real, tactile models, made the lesson truly come alive.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their reaction was priceless. Several gasped, others clapped, and a few immediately started pointing out organs they recognized from class. Many of my students don't normally have access to resources like this, so seeing high-quality, detailed models made them feel like real scientists. They handled them respectfully, with curiosity and pride, asking questions and taking initiative to explore on their own.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students are now moving into a deeper research project where they will create presentations on how different human body systems interact. These models will continue to be used throughout the year as we build understanding in everything from cellular processes to body organization. In Spanish class, this new environment has transformed our reading time—students are not only more eager to dive into texts, but they are also more willing to share their reflections with classmates in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere.\r\n\r\nOne of the most powerful impacts has been how our middle schoolers now use this space to read with and mentor younger students. Sitting together on the bean bags and cushions, they practice Spanish and English literacy side by side, with older students modeling fluency and encouraging younger ones. This has built a sense of leadership in my class while also giving younger readers role models who make reading fun and approachable.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue growing this \"reading buddy\" program between grade levels, using the comfortable space you helped create as the hub for collaboration.
