What was once a traditional classroom setting instantly felt more welcoming, and students immediately claimed cozy spots to settle in with their books. In Spanish class, this new environment has transformed our reading time—students are not only more eager to dive into texts, but they are also more willing to share their reflections with classmates in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere.\r\n\r\nOne of the most powerful impacts has been how our middle schoolers now use this space to read with and mentor younger students. Sitting together on the bean bags and cushions, they practice Spanish and English literacy side by side, with older students modeling fluency and encouraging younger ones. This has built a sense of leadership in my class while also giving younger readers role models who make reading fun and approachable.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue growing this \"reading buddy\" program between grade levels, using the comfortable space you helped create as the hub for collaboration. Students gathered around, curious and full of energy, many of them trying the sport for the very first time. As paddles hit balls and laughter filled the air, it was clear that this was more than just a new game—it was a fresh way for students to engage, move, and have fun during PE. Some students who usually hang back during other sports quickly found their rhythm and confidence on the court, which has been a joy to witness.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the nets, we've been using them during outdoor PE sessions to teach not only the rules and techniques of pickleball, but also important life skills like teamwork, communication, and perseverance. One recent highlight was a student-led doubles tournament that sparked friendly competition and brought out surprising leadership skills in some of our quieter students. The flexibility of having portable nets has allowed us to set up anywhere on campus, making it easy to incorporate into our schedule and take full advantage of sunny days.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be focusing on building a full unit around pickleball as part of our \"lifetime fitness\" curriculum. The goal is to help students see how staying active can be enjoyable and accessible well beyond their school years. They then brought math and art together by blowing bubbles onto paper to create stunning circle-based artwork. Oil pastels were used to enhance the circumference of each circle, while watercolors brought the bubbles to life with vibrant color and movement.\r\n\r\nYour donation helped turn a challenging concept into a memorable and meaningful learning experience. The books you helped provide are filled with engaging experiments and real-world connections that have completely transformed how we approach science in the classroom.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is now more dynamic than ever. Students work in small groups or independently, using the books to guide their own investigations—from creating simple machines to understanding the states of matter through fun experiments. These texts are helping us build skills in reading comprehension, following technical directions, and interpreting results—all while sparking curiosity and excitement. One of my students who used to shy away from both science and reading now asks to take one of the books home every weekend!\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, my students are not only becoming stronger readers but also more confident young scientists. This blender has quickly become the centerpiece of our science-based wellness lessons, where we've explored everything from the chemistry of emulsification to the nutritional science of smoothies. It's amazing how one tool has made such a hands-on, lasting impact.\r\n\r\nWhat excites the students most is the opportunity to create something real. They've taken ownership of preparing healthy recipes, comparing ingredients, and measuring outcomes—skills that blend science, math, and wellness all at once. For students who may not always feel confident in traditional academics, this project has opened a new door. One student who is usually quiet and hesitant in group work has taken the lead in planning recipes and explaining the nutritional benefits of their creations to the class. The new yoga mats, speaker, pickleball sets, elastic bands, and weights have brought a new level of excitement, energy, and participation to our students' fitness experiences. From energizing warm-ups with resistance bands to spirited pickleball matches, the students are now more engaged and eager to be active. One memorable moment was during our first yoga session — when students walked in and saw a mat ready for each of them, their faces lit up with excitement. For many, it was their first time trying yoga, and the sense of ownership over their own space helped them feel comfortable, confident, and motivated.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the equipment, we've launched a rotating fitness circuit that combines strength training with fun activities. Students move between stations using weights, bands, and mats, and the speaker has helped us keep the energy high with motivating music throughout our sessions. The pickleball sets have opened the door to learning new skills and sportsmanship, building teamwork and perseverance in ways that traditional activities sometimes couldn't. Seeing students who used to be hesitant about PE now look forward to class and ask to stay after to play a few more rounds has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we are building a unit that blends dance, strength training, and sports into a \"Fitness Fusion Challenge\" — encouraging students to set personal fitness goals, celebrate small victories, and discover lifelong healthy habits. For many of them, this was their first time handling real lab equipment, and it immediately sparked curiosity and enthusiasm for chemistry.\r\n\r\nOne of our first projects was learning proper lab techniques while investigating chemical reactions. Students carefully measured liquids using droppers and beakers, mixed solutions with stirring rods, and used funnels to transfer substances safely—all while reinforcing key concepts like physical and chemical changes. When they first saw the microscope in action, there was an immediate buzz of excitement in the classroom. Students crowded around, eager to get a closer look at onion skin cells, cheek cells, and even tiny pond organisms. Seeing their amazement as they observed structures they had only seen in textbooks was truly priceless.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful moments so far was when students compared plant and animal cells side by side, identifying the differences in structure and function. Instead of simply memorizing organelles, they were able to see them firsthand, making the learning experience far more engaging and meaningful. This microscope has also helped reinforce the importance of scientific observation and critical thinking, as students are now able to document their findings, ask deeper questions, and collaborate to draw conclusions from real data.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to expand our investigations by studying cell division, bacteria samples, and even more complex biological specimens. The ability to project images from the microscope onto a screen has allowed for dynamic discussions and a stronger sense of discovery in the classroom. They immediately started asking questions, making predictions, and brainstorming experiments they could conduct. These materials have turned abstract concepts into hands-on experiences, making lessons on wave behavior, reflection, and refraction far more engaging and interactive than ever before.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting moments so far was when we used the laser pointers to demonstrate how light bends through different mediums. Students set up their own experiments with water, mirrors, and transparent materials, observing firsthand how refraction changes the direction of a beam. Watching their excitement as they connected what they saw to what they had learned in class was incredible. Meanwhile, the Slinkies have been an invaluable tool for visualizing longitudinal and transverse waves—students now grasp these concepts in a way that static images in a textbook never could provide.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to take our experiments even further by exploring how light interacts with color filters and lenses. This will help students deepen their understanding of optics and real-world applications of light physics.
