They collaborated to create posters for our hallways, using a theme of 'celebrities' to decrease the stigma around mental health. They created two posters per mental health topic (depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief). One poster offered facts on the specific topic, and the other showed a picture of a well known celebrity and a quote about their own challenges/struggles related to the issue. \r\nThroughout the year, I witnessed the students in the group grow and become passionate about the topic, often sharing how they supported a peer with stressors that were carrying over into the school day by normalizing and encouraging to speak with the campus counselor or other safe adult in their life. \r\nWe were able to participate in multiple school wide events thanks to the donations of coloring supplies and jumbo coloring pages. They brainstormed ideas that could be offered at after school events for students and created a 'mindfulness coloring' station offering various printed coloring sheets for their peers to also take home with them if desired. I am excited to continue this group this 25/26 school year and support their efforts in increasing awareness, decreasing stigma, and engaging meaningfully with their peers. \r\nYour donations not only provided the supplies to the group members to participate in this experience, but touched the entire campus with the impact they were able to make.","fullyFundedDate":1726491881119,"projectUrl":"project/peer-led-mental-health-advocacy/8719262/","projectTitle":"Peer Led Mental Health Advocacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Randi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9716472"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_17596","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":423,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":96,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":61.6,"schoolId":17596,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dwight Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dwight Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/south-san-antonio-independent-school-district/dwight-middle-school/17596"}
