I cannot tell you enough how WONDERFUL it is for my students to have a plush, colorful, clean rug to use multiple times a day. Some of our most important learning moments happen during our rug time in the morning. \r\n\r\nI am so grateful that this group of kiddos get to enjoy a beautiful, comfortable rug. I donated the old rug to another classroom in our building and comparing the two rugs shows how in need we were of a new one. Our big rug is truly the center of our room. \r\n\r\nI continue to teach these littles to take pride in their supplies and room. These materials have seen daily use and bring so much joy to our children's lives in my classroom. These materials have helped my students grow in areas like problem solving, creativity and ingenuity. I particularly enjoy these materials for the partner work that ensues. Coming together to design a project from start to finish and seeing how proud they are of themselves and each other makes all the difference in our classroom. \r\nWhen we first got the materials our students could not wait to open them up and get to work! The room was abuzz with laughter and conversation, all necessary components of supporting pro-social behaviors in an early childhood classroom. It's rewarding to see these young learners gravitate towards activities that are challenging and support them when they encounter barriers. Most students are capable of so much more than they believe, and I love the lightbulb moment when they are able to finally accomplish a goal set for them. It's donors like you that are responsible for the positive growth in our future generations to come. They remind each other not to have their snack near it so we don't have an accident. :)\r\n\r\nTo most, it is just a rug . . . for my class it is a happy and meaningful part of our everyday! This has been my favorite project! We received the books at the end of last school year and my kids were so excited to have the physical book of stories we had watched online. It made a huge difference having the actual book in hand! \r\n\r\nIn kindergarten we learn how to hold a book, turn pages and read left to right/top to bottom. I am able to model how to read to the class. Even though they may not be able to read all the words, they still follow these skills as they \"read\" the book independently. \r\n\r\nWe started off this school year with our books and it is already making a difference. As they are \"reading\" to a friend, they are able to point out certain letters, sight words and even clues in the pictures of the pages. \r\n\r\nWith so much of our culture learning and exploring online it is so amazing to see students' reactions when they are holding and exploring the books.","fullyFundedDate":1744509247285,"projectUrl":"project/experience-the-world-through-reading/9249922/","projectTitle":"Experience the world through reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Naylor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2484559_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719336568319","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2484559"},{"teacherId":2553721,"projectId":9250370,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support of my project, Putting Books in Little Hands. When our district purchased a new language arts curriculum this year, we were disappointed in the fact that the program was mostly online. While it is so very rich in language and amazing books, they were all provided on the internet and not as a hard copy. Teaching this generation of children who are already so immersed in technology makes it so very important to put real books in their hands. They often don't know parts of a book, how to turn pages, and even where the words start when they come to our classrooms in the fall. Being able to put real books in their hands is so important. My students are always engaged in our read alouds and love to look at books on their own time as well. Your donation helped to put actual books in their hands and is teaching them such important book handling/reading skills that they were missing out on by reading the titles online. I appreciate your donations more than you know, and I look forward to using the books in my classroom for many years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1744993502070,"projectUrl":"project/putting-books-in-little-hands/9250370/","projectTitle":"Putting Books in Little Hands","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pack","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2553721_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1684190362721","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2553721"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14836","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":411,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":61,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":35,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - K","studentTeacherRatio":"14.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":77.0,"schoolId":14836,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brown Primary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brown Primary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/smithville-independent-school-district/brown-primary-school/14836"}
