Each week, students track their attendance and personal academic goals, and those who meet their targets earn \"Owl Bucks\" they can redeem at Owl‑Mart.\r\nOne of the most meaningful moments happened recently during our goal‑setting conference time. Several students who had struggled with attendance earlier in the year proudly shared that they hadn't missed a day in weeks. They were excited not just for the Owl‑Mart rewards, but because they could see their own progress. The store has become more than just an incentive—it's a celebration of their hard work, consistency, and commitment to learning in a safe environment they trust.\r\nTheir reactions were priceless. Many of our students come from at‑risk living environments, so having access to a space filled with new, exciting items meant just for them made a huge impact. There were cheers, smiles, and a lot of \"Is this really for us?\" Students immediately began talking about what goals they wanted to hit next so they could shop again. The new items helped reinforce that their efforts matter and that our school community genuinely believes in their success.\r\nOur next steps involve continuing to strengthen students' academic habits and consistency. They are currently working on setting new personal goals for the next grading period—whether improving in a subject area, turning in assignments on time, or maintaining strong attendance.\r\nThe Owl‑Mart resources help us keep the momentum going. As students work through their academic units, they know there is a meaningful reward tied to their achievements, and they've already started reflecting on what skills or behaviors they want to grow next. Ultimately, our goal is to help every student see that their daily effort—big or small—leads to real progress.","fullyFundedDate":1764728763314,"projectUrl":"project/owl-mart-where-academics-are-rewarded/9628415/","projectTitle":"Owl-Mart Where Academics are Rewarded!","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Leonard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10192461"},{"teacherId":5282559,"projectId":6445711,"letterContent":"I want to take this time to share the amazing accomplishment that your generous donations have given my students. \r\nThroughout the school year, your donations, gave me the opportunity to purchase activities that were engaging for student, at grade level, and with just the right amount of rigor to make them successful! \r\nMy classroom had an 83% growth in Math, Reading, and a 50% growth in Science. Your contribution to our project helped our school come together to meet our goal and created a friendly competative spirit between classes while also fostering a pride in the cleanliness of our neighborhood. With the number of bins we received, we were able to place one in each class so that each group of students could track their own milestones. Many of our families jumped in with enthusiasm to ensure their child's class was a top contributor to our recycling drive. As a result we were able to keep thousands of pounds out of the landfill.\r\nThe students also gained knowledge of how to read and sort recyclable goods. They became very decerning about with items they tossed in the trashcan as every piece of wasted was an opportunity to increase thier classes numbers. \r\nWe hope to keep up this momentum for years to come so that it turns into real world consciouness as each student grows and develops in to helpful habits for the future.","fullyFundedDate":1346956579112,"projectUrl":"project/small-steps-and-big-goals/841191/","projectTitle":"Small Steps And Big Goals","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1207276"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_15484","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":338,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":80,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"12.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.1,"schoolId":15484,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Washington Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Washington Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/san-antonio-independent-school-district/washington-elementary-school/15484"}
