These books introduce a wide range of skills—from articulation and grammar to sentence structure and story elements—that help students practice language in context, not just in isolation. Through activities like retelling stories and expanding sentences, students strengthen both their receptive and expressive vocabulary.\r\n\r\nUsing these thematic books, I design targeted lessons that support articulation, language development, and grammar skills. Each book serves as a springboard for activities like practicing specific speech sounds in context, identifying and using parts of speech, and constructing grammatically correct sentences. I also create extension activities such as story retelling, sequencing events, and vocabulary building exercises to deepen understanding and encourage expressive language. These lessons are carefully crafted to engage students at their individual levels, making learning both meaningful and motivating while addressing a range of communication goals.\r\n\r\nThese books have truly enriched my students' learning experience by making speech therapy relevant and engaging, helping them develop essential communication skills that extend beyond the therapy room.","fullyFundedDate":1730863109171,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-communication-through-thematic/8784891/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Communication Through Thematic Books in Speech Therapy","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nava (Roll)","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9463404_orig.jpg?crop=600,600,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721760957525","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/navaspeech"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_10277","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":560,"numTeachers":46,"percentFrplEligible":39,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":44,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":43,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":94.7,"schoolId":10277,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Richardson North Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Richardson North Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/richardson-independent-school-district/richardson-north-junior-high-school/10277"}
