Macbeth was a blast! When I took an informal survey at the end of the play and asked students to rate the play on a scale of 1-10, over 80% of the students gave it an 8 or higher, and no one gave it less than a 6 -- pretty impressive for a Shakespearean text! The students clearly liked the play, and a big part of that was having the texts readily available. \r\n\r\nMore importantly, learning clearly took place. On their end-of-unit exam, the average scores were higher than they've been in my 10 years teaching the play. Using the texts to follow along while the play was acted out in front of them helped students to really engage in the story and understand the characters. Also, using the translations in the text helped students to fill in gaps in understanding so that the Elizabethan language felt more manageable. \r\n\r\nThanks so much for helping students to build confidence in their ability to read and understand such a complex text!","fullyFundedDate":1761613057055,"projectUrl":"project/acting-out-macbeth/9859182/","projectTitle":"Acting Out Macbeth","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. MacGorman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4101382_orig.jpg?crop=2848,2848,x498,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1576036457107","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4101382"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_134284","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":null,"percentAsian":29,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":41,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":false,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":88.9,"schoolId":134284,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Richland High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Richland High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/prosper-independent-school-district/richland-high-school/134284"}
