The tabletop water fountain, yoga mats, soft table lamps, and beautiful live pothos plants immediately transformed the area into a peaceful and welcoming environment where students can relax, reflect, and recharge during the school day. Many students gathered around the fountain listening to the calming sounds of the water while others helped carefully arrange the plants and set up the new space. Several students shared how calm and comfortable the area made them feel, and they were excited to have a space designed to support their emotional well-being and learning.\r\n\r\nWe are already using these resources during mindfulness activities, independent reading time, journaling, breathing exercises, and small group discussions. Students especially enjoy using the yoga mats for stretching and calming activities while listening to the relaxing fountain sounds. The soft lighting and greenery have created a calming atmosphere that encourages students to pause, focus, and reset when needed. One special moment was seeing students quietly reflect and write gratitude journal entries while enjoying the peaceful environment. The space has encouraged meaningful conversations and has helped students feel safe, supported, and more connected to one another.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include expanding our social-emotional learning activities by incorporating guided meditation sessions, wellness check-ins, collaborative reflection projects, and environmental awareness lessons. Students will also continue learning responsibility by helping care for the live plants and maintaining the calming space for everyone to enjoy. These resources are helping us create a positive environment that supports both academic success and emotional growth. Thank you for your generosity and for helping us provide students with a meaningful space where they can learn, reflect, and thrive every day.","fullyFundedDate":1778093945253,"projectUrl":"project/bemindful-take-care-of-yourself-and-oth/10193247/","projectTitle":"BEMINDful: Take Care of YOUrself and Others!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Marin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5482603_orig.jpg?crop=450,450,x0,y103&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760284958704","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5482603"},{"teacherId":8666654,"projectId":8200657,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom is now equipped with Snowflake the laptop and a mini iPad, and we have been using them successfully every day. Even though some of the original models weren't available, the tools we received have still made a big difference for our students.\r\n\r\nThese devices have helped remove a major barrier for students who forget chargers, misplace their school-issued Chromebook, or don't have access to a device at home. Instead of missing assignments, students are able to stay on track and complete work during intervention periods and while rotating through inclusion classrooms.\r\n\r\nHaving reliable, fully charged technology available means I can provide immediate support — whether that's one-on-one assistance, small group remediation, or quick check-ins to ensure students are staying on top of Google Classroom assignments. It has made transitions faster and instruction smoother.\r\n\r\nThe mini iPad has also been especially helpful for students who need a different format for accessing assignments or practicing skills. It has allowed us to meet students where they are and provide flexible, individualized support.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, our students feel more confident and capable because they have the tools they need to succeed. This grant has truly helped them stay engaged and keep learning moving forward.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our classroom and helping our students reach their full potential!","fullyFundedDate":1715381495366,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-rope-in-a-cow-computers-o/8200657/","projectTitle":"Help Us Rope in a C.O.W.! Because of your generosity, we now have a growing collection of young adult literature that reflects the diverse experiences, cultures, and voices of our students.\r\n\r\nHaving access to a wider range of high-quality books has made a real difference in our learning environment. Students are more engaged, more motivated to read, and more excited to explore stories that reflect their lives and interests. They're discovering new authors, exploring different perspectives, and finding characters they can relate to — which has helped them build stronger connections to reading and learning.\r\n\r\nThis collection is also helping us build a more inclusive classroom culture. When students see themselves represented in literature, they feel seen, valued, and understood. And when they read about experiences different from their own, they develop empathy, understanding, and respect for others.\r\n\r\nThese books are not only improving literacy skills, but they are also supporting critical thinking, self-discovery, and personal growth. Students are engaging in deeper discussions, making stronger connections, and taking more ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping us create a literary sanctuary where every student has the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow. Many of our students use technology at home, but in school the headphones help them stay focused on their own work without distractions. They allow each student to listen to lessons, watch instructional videos, or practice language skills at their own pace. For those who sometimes struggle in a busy classroom environment, headphones have created a sense of calm and focus that makes learning easier and more effective.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most is the independence the headphones give them. They love being able to tune in and hear their lessons clearly without background noise. Whether they are working through math tutorials, reading with audio support, or practicing foreign language pronunciation, the headphones make the experience more engaging and personal. Several students have even shared that the headphones help them feel like they are learning \"one-on-one,\" even in a full classroom.\r\n\r\nWe've also noticed that some of our quieter students, who might normally shy away from participating, are now more confident when working with technology. With headphones, they can take their time, repeat instructions if needed, and complete assignments with less stress. For these students, the headphones are more than just a tool — they've become a way to build confidence and independence in learning. Your support truly made a difference, and I am incredibly grateful for your kindness and thoughtfulness.\r\n\r\nThanks to your contributions, we were able to create a truly memorable and relaxing experience for our amazing teachers. The feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive. Many of them expressed how much they appreciated being given the opportunity to unwind and recharge before the new school year began. As you know, educators work tirelessly day in and day out, and oftentimes they don't get the time or recognition they truly deserve. Your generosity helped change that, even if just for a little while, and allowed them to feel seen, valued, and supported.\r\n\r\nTeachers told me how rejuvenating the event was, and how it set a positive tone for the months ahead. Some even said it was the best start to a school year they've ever had! It reminded all of us how powerful community support can be. Knowing that there are people out there who are willing to give back and invest in the well-being of educators makes a world of difference—not just for morale, but also for the energy and love that teachers bring into their classrooms.\r\n\r\nIt's important to remember that teachers and staff are at the heart of any school district. At PSJA ISD, we strive every day to give our students the very best education and support we can. But we can't do it alone. Your contributions helped remind our teachers and staff that they are not alone, that their work is appreciated, and that there is a community standing behind them.\r\n\r\nI want to personally thank you not only for supporting me in this effort but also for showing up for the teachers and staff of PSJA ISD. Your kindness has created ripples of positivity that extended far beyond the event itself. When teachers feel appreciated and cared for, they carry that energy into their work with students, colleagues, and families.\r\n\r\nWe are already looking forward to what we can do next, and I hope you'll consider continuing to be part of this growing movement to uplift our educators. Whether big or small, every act of support counts and helps build a stronger, more connected school community.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support meant the world to us and made a real, lasting impact. We are so lucky to have people like you who care deeply about education and those who dedicate their lives to it.","fullyFundedDate":1721682897353,"projectUrl":"project/balance-bloom-mental-health-strategie/8507974/","projectTitle":"Balance & Bloom: Mental Health Strategies For Teachers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Oso","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8916260_orig.png?crop=640,640,x448,y236&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683578217903","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8916260"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14478","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1946,"numTeachers":139,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":99,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":58.3,"schoolId":14478,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Psja Memorial Early College High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Psja Memorial Early College High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/pharr-san-juan-alamo-independent-school-district/pharr-san-juan-mem-high-school/14478"}
