I want to share the positive impact our classroom economy has had on my students this year so far. The system has created an engaging, real-world context for practicing responsibility and financial decision-making. My students love being able to buy snacks (they were the first thing to go) — choosing a treat becomes a lesson in budgeting and delayed gratification. Because items in my classroom have real value, students are practicing saving strategies: they must plan ahead and set goals so they can afford the things they want. This repeated practice with choices, saving, and small consequences has strengthened their executive-function skills and helped many of my students demonstrate noticeable growth in self-control and planning.\r\n\r\nBeyond snacks, students were thrilled to have a variety of items and privileges available to purchase with money they earned themselves. Owning something acquired through their own effort — whether a small classroom prize, extra computer time, or a special desk pass — made accomplishments feel meaningful and tangible. The pride and motivation I observed when a student purchased an item they had been saving for was remarkable: it reinforced the connection between work, reward, and personal responsibility. Overall, the classroom economy has fostered independence, cooperative behavior, and a stronger classroom community — and the enthusiasm from our students shows it's a model worth continuing and expanding.","fullyFundedDate":1755521964903,"projectUrl":"project/a-classroom-store-for-our-7th-grade-math/9574494/","projectTitle":"A Classroom Store for Our 7th Grade Math Economy!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9748144"},{"teacherId":7560065,"projectId":9317565,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the paper my students will use to practice writing and learning English! They also loved the gel pens! We used them to create drawings of the things they love, so we could introduce ourselves to each other as icebreakers. We plan on using them for other projects and for creating anchor charts to illustrate what we learn in class and word walls. It is really nice to have the supplies we need to accomplish our goals. My students also love that we have electric sharpeners! They are awesome! We appreciate the pencils so we can do work or assignments throughout the day. We are sending some samples of our work, and we are super-grateful for your generous donations!! I don't know what we would do without your help! Thank you so very much!!
