This little wooden box has become part our campus and community culture. During evening events, families crowd around it to see what's available. The library has created a space where reading feels accessible, welcoming, and student‑driven. For many of our students, especially those who don't always have books at home, this project has opened a door to stories, knowledge, and possibilities they can now explore freely.\r\n\r\nOne of the most powerful outcomes has been the sense of ownership students feel. They don't just take books, they donate them, recommend them, and talk about them with pride. Students who once hesitated to call themselves readers now eagerly browse through it, discovering books they maybe would not have read otherwise. Others have stepped into leadership roles by helping organize the library, painting it, and encouraging classmates to participate. The simple act of choosing a book to give or selecting one to take has helped students understand that they are contributors to a shared community resource. Students passing by comment on the new color as they; the room has a green hue. Many ask if green is my favorite color (which it is, but not why selected it). It matches our curtains and ties the room together.\r\n\r\nDuring class, it is sufficient light without having to use the few lamps we had relied on to avoid the overhead fluorescent glare. I have had fewer complaints regarding the overhead lights giving students' headaches or eye strain. For me, as I am the one in the same room for the entire day, it had definitely reduced eye strain; my eyes are less \"tired\" at the end of the day.\r\n\r\nIn the future, I might consider changing to a different color to stimulate student interest and provide variety. It is nice to have options and perhaps change the mood again!
