Although we have only had the micro bits for a very short time, they are making a tremendous impact on my classes. I have never used a micro bit before and neither have my students so this is a new learning experience for all of us. Because we have used the program Makecode for coding our EV3's, the students were able to transfer that learning experience to the micro bits. They are familiar with the color coding of various blocks and transferring the code to the physical object. \r\nStudents love anything dealing with technology and these micro bits are no exception. Although we have only been using them a few days, the students are already taking the lessons and making their own version. It is exciting to seem them engage with the micro bit and each other. They are helping each other with the programming design, coding and testing. Some were able to code the micro bits for the game ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS and it was fun watching them share code and play the game in a new way. The more we use these little computers the more we are finding that they are capable of. I get the most excited when they have free time to explore the various tutorials on their own and see the excitement when they have a working project then want to share it with me. Some are looking to purchase them for themselves. \r\nWe can't thank you enough.","fullyFundedDate":1762214768699,"projectUrl":"project/coding-connections-bringing-microbits/9867072/","projectTitle":"Coding Connections: Bringing Micro:bits to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ellis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4904244"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_10073","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":595,"numTeachers":53,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":40,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":70.0,"schoolId":10073,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Central Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Central Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/nederland-independent-school-district/central-middle-school/10073"}
