Many students are familiar with technology for entertainment, but few have had the opportunity to explore how professionals use audio and video tools to communicate messages and tell stories. With these resources, students are now able to record and edit their own footage, improve sound quality, and collaborate on creative projects. This level of access allows them to build real-world skills in communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and digital literacy—skills that are essential in today's technology-driven world.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been the ability to hear and see their work come to life. The headphones have helped students focus on detailed audio editing without distractions, and the cameras have sparked excitement about creating interviews, short films, and school announcements. Students love the independence and responsibility of using real equipment. The cleaning supplies ensure that everyone can safely share materials, which has been incredibly important for keeping equipment in great condition and maintaining a clean classroom environment.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who previously struggled to stay engaged in class, has completely transformed since the equipment arrived. Once quiet and hesitant, he now volunteers to film scenes, edits audio with confidence, and helps others learn the tools. He shared that for the first time, he feels like his work \"looks real\" and that he's doing something meaningful. Stories like his remind us that access to the right tools can empower students, spark hidden passions, and build confidence that extends far beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1761330411415,"projectUrl":"project/technology-is-what-we-see-and-hear/9719712/","projectTitle":"Technology Is What We See and Hear!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Trevino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10265181"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9639","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":587,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":96,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":9639,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sgt Manuel Chacon Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sgt Manuel Chacon Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/mercedes-independent-school-district/mercedes-junior-high-school/9639"}
