Your donation of markers, crayons, and glue has made a bigger impact than you can imagine. My eighth grade math students are using these supplies every day to bring abstract concepts to life through visuals and hands on activities.\r\nOne of the first projects we completed with the new materials was creating posters that showed multiple representations of slope. Students used graphs, tables, equations, and real world examples to explain the concept in their own words. Another class created colorful graphic organizers for the real number system, using diagrams and labels to compare rational and irrational numbers. The work they produced was thoughtful, creative, and showed a deep level of understanding.\r\nWhen my students first saw the new supplies, they were so excited. Many of them said they had never had this many colors to work with before. They immediately began planning out how they wanted to design their posters and organize their ideas. Even students who are usually quiet became more engaged because the activities felt more creative and approachable. For my English learners, the visuals and color coded notes have made it much easier for them to connect new vocabulary to meaning.\r\nYour support did more than provide materials. It created a learning environment where students feel confident, motivated, and proud of their work. They love displaying their visuals around the classroom, and it has sparked meaningful conversations about math that extend beyond the lesson.\r\nOur next steps include creating interactive notebooks and visual guides for our unit on angle relationships. The students are already excited to continue using the materials to make their learning more clear and more memorable.\r\nThank you once again for believing in my students. Your generosity is making a difference every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1762022879981,"projectUrl":"project/colorful-math-engaging-learning-through/9608943/","projectTitle":"Colorful Math: Engaging Learning Through Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5732847_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755309340751","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5732847"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11702","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":721,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":96,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":53.3,"schoolId":11702,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Alonzo De Leon Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Alonzo De Leon Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/mcallen-independent-school-district/alonzo-de-leon-middle-school/11702"}
