That is not the case for my students and placing four laptops in their hands was one of the most joyful moments of my year. \r\n\r\nStudents who previously struggled to keep antiquated laptops charged and functioning through speech and debate rounds now have laptops that work on command. We installed programs that store news articles daily and allow students to access needed information without the internet in the midst of a round. Their debate files are stored on laptops at the ready rather than as printed files requiring a physical search during their limited prep time. Without the need of a continuous electrical source, my students pull out their computers on trips to prep for their competitions. \r\nSeeing their delight in easily accessing the things they need for success makes this veteran speech and debate coach immensely happy.\r\n\r\nAs they say, \"the proof is in the pudding\" and my students served up great desserts. My congressional debaters swept the podium at our first regional contest of the year taking first, second, third, and sixth. Three of those students will represent our school at State in January. I couldn't be prouder of my kids or more thankful to you for granting us the gift of technology. I am incredibly grateful for your kindness.","fullyFundedDate":1726588825404,"projectUrl":"project/our-school-works-for-state-debate-champi/8615869/","projectTitle":"Our School Works for State Debate Championship","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jay-Wienecke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4810678"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_15423","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":322,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":43,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":48,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":97.0,"schoolId":15423,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lometa School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lometa School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/lometa-independent-school-district/lometa-school/15423"}
