They eagerly rolled, pinched, and shaped their own creations as we began a hands-on sculpture unit focused on texture, form, and creativity. One of our favorite projects was creating small kindness sculptures and animals that reflected our theme, \"In a world where you can be anything... be kind.\"\r\n\r\nThe soft, colorful clay allowed every student, including those who struggle with drawing, to feel successful and confident as artists. Students proudly shared their sculptures with classmates, describing what they made and why it mattered to them.\r\n\r\nNext, students will build on these skills by creating more detailed 3-D projects, including textured creatures, mini landscapes, and collaborative displays that show how art can be both expressive and joyful. One of my favorite moments was watching a hesitant student proudly hold up their finished artwork and say, \"I didn't know I could do this.\"\r\n\r\nBecause of our donors, students now have the tools they need to experiment, take creative risks, and grow as artists. Next, students will use these materials to build on their skills through layered painting, detailed drawing, and collaborative projects that celebrate creativity, confidence, and kindness.
