There's something special about holding a full set of books in your hands, knowing they are yours to read, annotate, and enjoy. For many students, this will be the first time they've had access to such a rich selection of titles, and the opportunity to dive into them with their peers will spark curiosity and build anticipation. It marks the beginning of something meaningful—not just for their reading lives, but for their sense of belonging and intellectual engagement.\r\n\r\nWhat makes this moment even more exciting is that they'll also receive a personalized package filled with notetaking materials, pens, notecards, stickers, sticky notes, and more. These small but thoughtful tools will help them feel like true members of a team—equipped, supported, and valued. Having their own supplies not only encourages active reading and discussion but also helps build ownership and pride in their work. It transforms the book club from a casual meeting into a purposeful, community-driven space where every student feels included and inspired to participate. I can already imagine the energy in the room as they open their packages, settle in with their books, and realize they're part of something special.","fullyFundedDate":1745865528357,"projectUrl":"project/book-bonding-bundles/9266147/","projectTitle":"Book Bonding Bundles","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lankford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9653566_orig.jpg?crop=320,320,x0,y17&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744730124405","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9653566"},{"teacherId":9653566,"projectId":9245193,"letterContent":"The donation of books had a profound impact on my Bears Read book club students, sparking a renewed enthusiasm for reading and creating a stronger sense of community within the group. Many students who previously had limited access to books were able to choose titles that spoke to their interests and identities, which significantly boosted their engagement. The variety and quality of the donated books allowed students to explore genres they hadn't considered before—from graphic novels and memoirs to contemporary fiction and poetry—broadening their literary horizons and deepening their understanding of the world around them.\r\n\r\nBeyond academic growth, the book donation also fostered meaningful conversations and connections among students. With access to shared texts, members of the club engaged in thoughtful discussions that encouraged empathy, critical thinking, and self-expression. Several students mentioned that having their own copy of a book made them feel valued and empowered, and the excitement of receiving new books created a positive, inclusive atmosphere in the library. The generosity of the donation helped transform the club into a vibrant space where students felt seen, heard, and inspired to keep reading.","fullyFundedDate":1745352820810,"projectUrl":"project/bears-read-book-club-reading-selections/9245193/","projectTitle":"Bears Read Book Club Reading Selections 2025/2026 School Year","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lankford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9653566_orig.jpg?crop=320,320,x0,y17&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744730124405","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9653566"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9364","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1006,"numTeachers":67,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":60,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":36,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":88.5,"schoolId":9364,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about La Vernia High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"La Vernia High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/la-vernia-independent-school-district/la-vernia-high-school/9364"}
