It is crucial for young people to experience a variety of art opportunities, and because of your support, my students have been doing that.\r\nThe markers helped us bring color and create works of art like the negative space chair project. After drawing a chair, the students had to design and decorate the outside of the chair, or negative space. The creativity was evident from the beginning. \r\nThe \"How To Draw\" books reinforce the instruction I provide on a daily basis. Drawing is an integral part of our art curriculum—whether students are preparing for a painting, a sculpture, or simply practicing foundational skills, we are always drawing. The engaging subject matter keeps students motivated, and it helps them become more confident and efficient artists. \r\nMy students also put the new drafting materials to great use while learning one- and two-point perspective. We studied cubes and other forms and shapes and created drawings using these techniques, making the lessons both meaningful and hands-on.\r\nThank you again for promoting education by giving directly to classrooms and for making such a lasting impact on my students' learning experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1763584808857,"projectUrl":"project/the-fun-of-drawing/9643552/","projectTitle":"The Fun of Drawing","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Gardner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp162699_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1508847917489","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/lgardne3"},{"teacherId":162699,"projectId":9613073,"letterContent":"It was truly exciting to receive our new paints and brushes. The students were especially happy to have a variety of brushes to work with, and we put them to use right away.\r\nWe began by learning about the color wheel and how to mix colors. From there, students practiced different painting techniques before creating their first painting.\r\n\r\nStudents chose to paint landscapes or use the theme of a bootmaker as their subject matter. I provided photographs for students to work from, which helped guide their compositions. We also created viewfinders so the artists could focus on a selected portion of the photograph as they worked. For some students, this was their very first painting experience, and they learned how to mix values with paint to create a three-dimensional effect. Other students were able to build on their existing skills and refine techniques to achieve a more realistic result.\r\n\r\nOverall, the students did an excellent job and gained a deeper understanding of what it means to create art. Thank you so much for your donations and for giving my students the opportunity to experience this meaningful form of creative expression.","fullyFundedDate":1763847884177,"projectUrl":"project/painting-for-a-brighter-world/9613073/","projectTitle":"Painting For A Brighter World","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Gardner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp162699_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1508847917489","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/lgardne3"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9884","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1027,"numTeachers":59,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":38,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"17.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.4,"schoolId":9884,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West Briar Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West Briar Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/houston-independent-school-district/west-briar-middle-school/9884"}
