They also really enjoyed the prizes and loved celebrating all of their hard work from the school year.\r\n\r\nSeveral of the second graders said, \"This was worth all that reading we did all year!\" Another one said, \"This was the best day of the year.\" Hearing their excitement and seeing their smiles made the event even more special.\r\n\r\nThis party helped motivate students to keep reading and showed them that their effort and dedication matter. It was wonderful to watch students work together, cheer each other on, and create fun memories with their classmates.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your donations and support of our library and readers! Because of your generosity, our school library has new books that are already making a meaningful difference for my students.\r\n\r\nThese books are doing more than filling empty shelves — they are helping students strengthen essential reading skills every day. With these new texts, students are practicing comprehension, building vocabulary, exploring different genres, and learning how to choose \"just right\" books that match their interests and reading levels. Many of the titles also encourage empathy, critical thinking, and meaningful discussions, which are skills that extend far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have been especially excited about the new additions. Some immediately gravitated toward familiar favorite series they thought were gone forever, while others were thrilled to discover new authors and topics. I love hearing this!\r\n\r\nYour support ensured that what was lost was not forgotten — instead, it was replaced with opportunity, excitement, and a renewed love of reading. Originally, it was intended to support 5th grade Chromebooks, but due to a last-minute move to Kindergarten, it became an even greater blessing than I ever anticipated. Managing devices in a Kindergarten classroom can be quite chaotic, and this cart has completely transformed that process. It has made charging iPads safe, organized, and stress-free for both students and myself. The time saved and the structure it provides allow us to focus more on learning and less on logistics. These decodables have been a game-changer for our classroom. With these sets of books, students are able to access CHAPTER BOOKS that we read as a class, with partners, or students choose sometimes to read them independently! I have heard so many comments about how proud they are that they are reading FULL books and are able to do so on their own. This success has built confidence and experience with reading that feels fun and do-able. \r\n\r\nWe use them in class to explicitly teach expression and fluency as a class, and then in groups they re-read these stories using these new skills. They have also become more interested in trying new chapter books like The Magic Treehouse because of the books that have been bought. As the school librarian, I've had the joy of introducing these books to our younger students over the past five years, but this year has been especially impactful. With the addition of new fiction and non-fiction titles, students are exploring a broader range of stories, learning from diverse characters, and developing important early literacy skills like making predictions, identifying story elements, and building vocabulary through read-alouds and independent reading.\r\n\r\nThese books don't stay on the shelves for long!
