Thanks to your support, our classroom now has six brand-new standing desks, and they've already transformed the way students learn and collaborate.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment the desks arrived, the excitement was real—students helped unpack them, and several immediately asked, \"Can we try them today?\" That first day, the energy in the room felt completely different. Students who usually fidget in their seats were suddenly more focused and engaged. They love being able to move around, stretch their legs, and still participate actively in lessons.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the desks during group problem-solving rotations and our daily \"UPS Check\" problem-solving routine. Students switch between seated and standing stations as they graph, check each other's work, and explain their reasoning on whiteboards. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students who usually stay quiet become animated as they worked through a tough linear-equations challenge together at one of the new desks—standing shoulder to shoulder, sketching ideas and cheering each other on.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're beginning our Functions and Linear Models project, where students collect real-world data to create graphs and write equations that model their findings. The standing desks have made this process so much easier—they serve as collaboration hubs where groups can chart data, measure variables, and stay active while thinking critically.\r\n\r\nYour gift didn't just add furniture—it added flexibility, comfort, and focus to our learning environment. You've helped us build a classroom that moves, thinks, and learns together.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and in the power of an active classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1757781018038,"projectUrl":"project/elevating-algebra-standing-desks-to-pow/9449168/","projectTitle":"Elevating Algebra: Standing Desks to Power Problem Solving","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Adrienne Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10072362_orig.png?crop=1024,1024,x0,y98&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752172912568","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10072362"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_124520","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2802,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":61,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":96.6,"schoolId":124520,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Moe & Gene Johnson High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Moe & Gene Johnson High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/hays-consolidated-independent-school-district/johnson-high-school/124520"}
