They now come to class eager to check on and what the geckos and turtle are doing. For many of the students, this was the first time they observed or touched a reptile. It has eliminated some of the fears and misconceptions that they had regarding these organisms. They are no longer afraid to touch or hold them.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the breeching some of the physical barriers, many of the students have taken it upon themselves to research and discovery the attributes and characteristics of the animals. Some have researched how to determine the gender ofthe geckos while others have searched for dietary information to acquire the best feed and feeding schedule for our class pets. I have established a merit system to allow the students that have invested the most time and effort to compete to take the animals home with them on extended holidays and weekends.\r\n\r\nOverall, your contribution to this project has dramatically impacted the educational experience of my class. There has been an increased interest in understanding and learning with a focus. I believe lives have been significantly impacted because of this project. Thank you for making it happen quicker and easier than I could have done on my own. The students thank you, the animals thank you, and I thank you.","fullyFundedDate":1742320448891,"projectUrl":"project/a-nature-environment-in-a-classroom-sett/9136217/","projectTitle":"A Nature Environment in a Classroom Setting","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Allen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8793624"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11982","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":675,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":43,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":52,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":11982,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Harts Bluff School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Harts Bluff School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/harts-bluff-independent-school-district/harts-bluff-elementary-school/11982"}
