Because of the visual layout of the piano keys, it is really helping understand the difference between harmony and melody. Students are developing essential motor skills and hand-eye coordination through basic piano practice. It is also helping students understand the differences between notes, pitches, and chords. The piano is also allowing students to explore their creativity by composing and improvising basic music melodies. When connected to a computer with compatible music software, the piano is able to display note and rhythm input in real time which allows students to playback their work which can be viewed and heard. This helps students understand and explore musical concepts. \r\nStudents are now able to receive personalized instruction on technique, repertoire, and music theory when doing private lessons. The piano allows us to conduct group lessons which provides opportunities for students to learn together and develop ensemble skills. The piano is being used to demonstrate and reinforce music theory concepts during class lessons. Students are using the piano to practice and develop their aural and songwriting skills. The piano is also being used to accompany vocal and instrumental ensembles, and soloists.\r\n\r\nAs the students first walked into the classroom, they were amazed to see a piano available for them to use. Every student wanted to take a turn using the piano!
