We have been using materials like magnetic tiles, engineering kits, and problem-solving STEM story sets during our daily centers and small group instruction. One memorable moment was when students used the magnetic tiles and building kits to design their own structures after reading The Three Little Pigs. They worked together to build \"strong houses,\" testing which designs could stand up the best. It was amazing to see them problem-solve, collaborate, and think like little engineers.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were full of excitement and curiosity. They immediately wanted to touch, build, and create. Many of them began experimenting right away—connecting pieces, designing roads, and building towers—while sharing their ideas with classmates. Their enthusiasm turned our classroom into a space full of creativity, teamwork, and discovery.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our students are developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and fine motor skills through hands-on learning experiences. Our next steps include incorporating these materials into more structured STEM challenges, where students will plan, build, test, and improve their designs. We will also continue connecting these activities to our literacy lessons using the STEM story kits, helping students make meaningful real-world connections.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting our classroom and giving our students the opportunity to explore, create, and grow as young thinkers and innovators. We have been incorporating the telescope, microscopes, and space explorer into our science center and small group lessons. One special moment was during our space unit when students used the telescope and the GeoSafari Space Explorer to learn about planets and stars. They took turns \"being astronauts,\" describing what they observed and asking thoughtful questions about space. Another exciting experience was using the microscopes to observe prepared slides. Students were amazed to see tiny details in plants and insects that they had never noticed before, sparking curiosity and rich conversations.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the classroom was filled with excitement and wonder. Students were eager to explore and immediately began asking questions like, \"Can I see the moon?\" and \"What is this under the microscope?\" Their curiosity drove their learning, and they were fully engaged from the very beginning.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our students are developing early scientific thinking skills such as observing, questioning, and making predictions. Our next steps include deeper investigations where students will record what they see through drawings, compare objects, and begin simple discussions about living and nonliving things. We also plan to extend our space unit by connecting what they observe with books and hands-on STEM activities.\r\n\r\nThank you for opening the door to exploration and discovery in our classroom. From the moment my students saw it, their faces lit up with excitement. The kitchen quickly became the most popular center, giving my students a safe space to role-play and practice important social skills like sharing, turn-taking, and problem-solving.\r\n\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students now have a resource that will continue to inspire learning through play all year long. With the fund, we were able to add items to help our classroom be more organize and accessible to all students. The students were very excited when they saw the foldable rolling cart. We use it every Tuesday to carry books to and from the library. We also use the cart to carry our water bottles outside for water day and field day.\r\n\r\nThe metal mesh organizer is a space saver and it helps keep the teacher's desk more organize. It has a space to keep the big binder with all the monitoring checklists for students' learning progress. It also has a slot to hold lesson plan for the week. There are also slots for other important papers like event flyers, parents newsletters and reminders. With this mesh organizer, my papers and necessary documents get organized and I know exactly where to look for whenever I need. As a Pre-K classroom teacher, I feel that being organize is very important because not only I am a role model for my students, but also being organize will help me to maximize instructional time.","fullyFundedDate":1721737952201,"projectUrl":"project/pre-k-here-we-come/8498932/","projectTitle":"Pre-K, Here We Come!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. H","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9594240"},{"teacherId":9638758,"projectId":8978085,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom now has a dedicated math shelf filled with hands-on materials that are making math fun, engaging, and meaningful for our young learners. When the students first saw the new shelf, their eyes lit up—they were immediately drawn to the colorful counting bears, shape puzzles, number games, and sorting tools. It was like opening a treasure chest of learning!\r\n\r\nWe've been using the math shelf daily during centers and small group time. One of our favorite moments so far was watching a group of students work together to build patterns with linking cubes—they were helping each other, naming colors, counting out loud, and proudly showing off their creations. The shelf gives them the freedom to explore math concepts through play, which is exactly how preschoolers learn best.\r\n\r\nAs we continue building our math skills, we'll be using the shelf for activities around counting, comparing quantities, recognizing shapes, and simple problem-solving. These resources have sparked curiosity and confidence in so many of our students, and we're excited to keep building on that foundation. This technology has provided a dynamic, hands-on experience that allows them to listen to stories, follow along with text, and engage with the material in a way that traditional reading doesn't always allow. By listening to stories in both English and Spanish, students are expanding their vocabulary and improving their listening comprehension and phonemic awareness—critical building blocks for early literacy development.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students the most is the interactive nature of the station. They love being able to press play and follow along with the words as they hear them, which makes reading feel fun and accessible. The ability to listen to books repeatedly helps them become more confident with letter recognition, sentence structure, and vocabulary. Some of my students, who might not be as comfortable with reading aloud, have especially warmed to the technology. For them, the station offers a non-judgmental space where they can engage with stories on their own terms, boosting their confidence and making them excited to read.\r\n\r\nOverall, the listening and reading station has provided an engaging, supportive, and enriching learning experience for my students. It has helped bridge gaps for students who might need extra support and has sparked a love for stories in every child who uses it.
