Before having these resources, students often struggled to keep their desks tidy, which led to wasted time searching for materials during lessons. Now, each student has their own dedicated space to store their supplies, helping them stay more organized and reducing distractions. One specific project where these resources made a big difference was during our recent biography research, where students were tasked with researching, building timelines, and creating posters. Having easy access to their tools, like rulers, scissors, and markers, allowed them to spend more time creating and collaborating rather than digging through their desks for materials.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the seat sacks and desk helpers, their faces lit up with excitement! They couldn't wait to put their supplies inside and start using the desk helpers as a resource. For many of my students, it was the first time they had a personal space for their materials that they could keep throughout the day. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive, and it sparked a renewed sense of ownership and responsibility for their learning. It's clear that these resources have not only improved their classroom experience but also contributed to fostering a more collaborative and efficient learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe desk helpers have also been an incredible asset for supporting foundational skills like writing letters, shapes, place value, and money. Each student has a personalized reference sheet that they can easily access throughout the day. These desk helpers provide quick reminders for correct letter formation, the value of coins, and how to break down numbers into place value, allowing students to work independently and confidently. The visual aids serve as a constant support, especially for younger students who are still mastering these concepts, making it easier for them to apply what they're learning in real-time during lessons and activities.\r\n\r\nAs we move into a new unit on living organisms, the seat sacks will help them keep their science notebooks, journals, and materials for group experiments in one easy-to-reach place. This organization will allow them to dive deeper into their projects, ensuring they can focus on learning rather than managing clutter. We are excited to continue using these tools to enhance our lessons and inspire further creativity!","fullyFundedDate":1733248906334,"projectUrl":"project/seat-sacks-for-story-books/8728021/","projectTitle":"Seat Sacks for Story Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5042926"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_13058","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":441,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":34,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":33,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"13.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":74.6,"schoolId":13058,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Parker Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Parker Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/galveston-independent-school-district/parker-elementary-school/13058"}
