We are using them during our library makerspace time as part of our problem-solving and spatial-reasoning rotation. It has been amazing to see students collaborate, coach one another, and persist through frustration—all core skills we want them to build.\r\n\r\nTheir initial reaction was priceless. When they walked in and saw an entire set of brand-new Rubik's Cubes, the room instantly buzzed with excitement. Many students rushed over to pick them up, turning the cubes in their hands and saying things like, \"I've always wanted to learn this!\" and \"I didn't know they were this fun!\" Even students who typically hesitate during STEM activities were eager to jump in.\r\n\r\nThanks to these resources, the next steps for my students are already underway. We are beginning a mini-unit on algorithms, patterns, and perseverance. Students will continue practicing basic solving strategies. These materials have opened the door to rich problem-solving conversations and authentic hands-on learning that will continue all year long.\r\n\r\nThank you again for bringing this exciting opportunity to our school—your generosity is truly making a difference!","fullyFundedDate":1760923216235,"projectUrl":"project/stem-in-every-turn-rubiks-cube-learnin/9684792/","projectTitle":"STEM in Every Turn: Rubik’s Cube Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Candace Leighton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7187548_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1694722645225","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7187548"},{"teacherId":7187548,"projectId":9217945,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom through DonorsChoose and helping us bring an ant farm to life in our library. The moment it arrived, curiosity sparked like wildfire! The ant farm has encouraged students to think like scientists, sparked meaningful conversations about ecosystems and teamwork, and inspired even our most hesitant learners to engage.\r\n\r\nYour generosity made this possible. The Qball has made a significant difference in both student engagement and oral reading confidence. Because the microphone amplifies student voices clearly and playfully encourages participation, it has transformed our reading sessions into a more interactive and low-pressure environment.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, reading aloud can be a source of anxiety. The Qball has helped reduce that anxiety by shifting the focus from correction to communication. Students are more willing to read aloud when they know they will be heard clearly and when the activity feels fun and game-like. It has also encouraged peer listening, turn-taking, and a sense of community in our small groups.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, using the Qball has led to noticeable improvements in reading fluency. Students are more motivated to practice, and I've observed better pacing, expression, and self-monitoring. The amplification feature also allows me to assess fluency skills more accurately from across the room without interrupting the flow of reading.\r\n\r\nOverall, the Qball has been an invaluable tool in making fluency practice more accessible, enjoyable, and effective for my students with dyslexia.","fullyFundedDate":1735868294176,"projectUrl":"project/active-voices-engaged-readers-technolo/8937029/","projectTitle":"Active Voices, Engaged Readers: Technology for Enhanced Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Candace Leighton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7187548_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1694722645225","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7187548"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_10426","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":872,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":7,"percentAsian":9,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":63,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.3,"schoolId":10426,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about C.W.
