These carts and storage bins have helped us create a structured and organized reward system that supports both academic progress and social–emotional growth for our Special Education students.\r\n\r\nEvery Friday, my students earn the chance to \"shop\" using the Cowboy Cash they've collected for meeting their IEP goals, demonstrating positive behaviors, staying focused, and showing perseverance. The clear bins, perfectly labeled and organized across our new rolling carts, have made it easy for students to navigate choices independently — which is a HUGE win for their confidence and executive-functioning skills.\r\n\r\nOne moment that brought tears to my eyes happened during the very first shopping day. One of my students, who often doubts himself, held his Cowboy Cash in his hands and whispered, \"Mrs. Greer... I earned this. I really earned this.\" Watching him select a prize from a bin he could clearly see and reach — thanks to the structure your donation provided — was absolutely priceless.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\n\r\nFriend... my students LIT UP.\r\n\r\nWhen the carts were rolled into the room fully stocked and organized, the gasps, smiles, and excited chatter were immediate. Several students clapped, a few jumped up and down, and one said proudly, \"This looks like a REAL store!\" They spent time walking around the carts, pointing at items, reading the Cowboy Corner signs, and planning what they wanted to work toward.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students — especially those with autism, ADHD, and emotional/behavioral disabilities — the visual organization and accessibility of the materials made the experience feel calming, predictable, and fun. They now see our Cowboy Corner cart as their space — something created for them, with them in mind.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just provide supplies.\r\nIt gave them a sense of dignity, independence, and excitement for learning.\r\n\r\nIn the coming weeks, we are launching \"Shop & Sort Fridays,\" where students will practice sorting items, reading price tags, counting their Cowboy Cash, and budgeting for what they want. This not only strengthens their math and reading skills, but also builds real-world independence — something that matters deeply for our students.\r\n\r\n⭐ Next Steps for Our Students & Our Cowboy Corner Expansion\r\n\r\nAs our Cowboy Corner Cart continues to grow, our students have already started dreaming big — and honestly, their excitement is contagious! Now that they understand how the store works, they've been sharing requests for items that motivate them, comfort them, and keep them working hard toward their goals.\r\n\r\nSome of the most requested items include:\r\n\r\n✨ Fuzzy pens & gel pens\r\n\r\n✏️ Scented pencils (\"smell pencils\")\r\n\r\n🧸 Small stuffed animals\r\n\r\n🍭 Candy and snack-size treats (especially chips!)\r\n\r\n🧃 Hydration Station: reusable water bottles + sugar-free, dye-free flavor packets\r\n\r\n🍕 Pizza Pass\r\n\r\n🍨 Ice Cream Bar Pass\r\n\r\n🍿 Popcorn Pass\r\n\r\n🍦 Popsicle Pass\r\n\r\n🍰 Cake Pop Pass\r\n\r\n🏃♂️ Jump ropes and outdoor play items\r\n\r\n🎨 Play-Doh and sensory tools\r\n\r\nOur students are very food motivated, and honestly — they LOVE to eat! These items don't just make them happy; they keep them engaged, focused, and working toward their IEP and behavior goals with genuine enthusiasm. Food-related reward passes have been incredibly effective because they allow students to choose experiences that feel special and celebratory.\r\n\r\n❤️ Why These Next Steps Matter\r\n\r\nExpanding our Cowboy Corner Cart with these student-requested items will:\r\n\r\nIncrease motivation and buy-in during academic and behavior interventions\r\n\r\nSupport self-regulation with more sensory and calming choices\r\n\r\nEncourage responsible decision-making through saving, budgeting, and delayed gratification\r\n\r\nPromote positive classroom culture by celebrating achievements in a meaningful way\r\n\r\nStrengthen independence as students learn to earn, plan, choose, and advocate for themselves\r\n\r\n🎯 What's Next for Us\r\n\r\nMoving forward, our goal is to continue building a collection of high-interest items that reflect our students' voices and needs. The next phase of our Cowboy Corner project will focus on:\r\n\r\nAdding more student-requested sensory, school supply, and snack items\r\n\r\nCreating experience passes (pizza, ice cream, popcorn, hydration station) to promote positive choices\r\n\r\nStocking items in various price ranges so all students can participate\r\n\r\nEnsuring we have ongoing supplies to keep Cowboy Corner sustainable all year long\r\n\r\nOur students are so invested in this project already, and every new item we add makes the learning environment feel more joyful, supportive, and empowering.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, we now have a tool that beautifully aligns with our classroom structure, supports student growth, and creates meaningful moments every single week.\r\n\r\nFrom myself, my students, and their families:\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in us. Thank you for pouring into us. And thank you for helping my students feel seen, valued, and celebrated.\r\n\r\n— Mrs. Greer & The Cowboy Corner Crew","fullyFundedDate":1746699696184,"projectUrl":"project/cowboy-corner-store-organization/9048992/","projectTitle":"Cowboy Corner Store Organization","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Greer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7274801_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736560127844","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7274801"},{"teacherId":8913360,"projectId":9248364,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping to provide funds for this project. This collection of books provides me, their dyslexia therapist, the tools I use to increase engagement in an otherwise difficult activity with the hope of fostering a love for.
